I watched your porch time on who will teach us the old ways, when everyone is gone. And made me open my eyes. So now I am going through your teachings and taking notes to add it to my binders. My Garden binder has your 2 manuals in it. I hope you make more so I can add them. If not I will just continue my note writing. Thank you so much for teaching us Danny and Wanda. We have truly been Blessed by God to have such great teachers. Have a blessed day y'all. ❤

That about covers it, nothing to it once you figure it all out. My biggest problem is time. During weather extremes it's hard to do it the way it needs done and still have time to get to the other things that also need done.

Thank you for this video. I've been gardening for about 10 yeas, but have never been over all successful. I do live in the south, zone 7. This video really helps explain a lot of things I need to do differently. Thank you for this series. I'll be watching this several times and writing down all your great knowledge.

THANK YOU so much! This is exactly what I've needed. I remember my grandfather telling me to plant potatoes on Good Friday. And plant root crops in the dark of the moon. But that was in Indiana. I'm in Arizona now. So I'm learning all over. My grandfather had already figured out where to put the garden and the ph. Now you've taught me where to find out those things that I missed! Thank you again.

We live in the Blackland Prarie area of Texas and just yesterday I was walking in my garden and nearly fell in a crack that had opened up. It's been so dry here. This time of year with the heavy clay soil we have you get these giant cracks that run all over. We have been working on amending the soil and building on top of it but it is a long process. Enjoyed the video.

That was real weird..thankyou for sharing with us👍🙏

Thank you Danny for this helpful video. I especially like the idea of charting a plant growth. I keep a chart & a calendar for everything I do... but for some reason not the garden. I will definitely start a plant growth chart today. I'll just have to use an approximate date of when I started for my summer garden. Once again, thank you! 👍 Many blessings to you and Wanda! 💕

Very excited about this series! I have been gardening for years, but I am always learning something new from others that share my passion. You described my clay soil to a tee. It has been years of work in progress conditioning my soil with grit and other amendments for successful planting and production. My advice for beginning gardeners is not to get discouraged. There will be many trials and errors beyond our control, but never give up. KNOW YOUR PLANTING ZONE and which vegetables and fruits are recommended by your state/local AG department. LSU AG has a great website where I can print out recommended varieties, date/schedules for planting specific vegetables and when to fertilize. Thank you, Danny!

Thank you Danny I will be checking my soil with the soil test. Some of our cucumbers are growing up and over the trellis, others not so much and are turning yellow. Have since cut the bottom leaves off the bottom of our tomato plants too, after watching your video on tomatoes. Plenty of bells and jalapeños in this south Texas heat. Zone 8 I have learned so much from yall, and for that I thank you. 😊

Great information as usual. I had much better production from my tomatoes by pruning those lower leaves as I learned from your videos. My ph is too alkaline and I always have to check and amend before I start gardening every year and can still only get to 7 from 7.2.

Danny is right: add organic matter to your garden when you have clay soil. I put my lawn clippings on mine and the vegetables flourish. Grass and grain do not mind a clay soil but the vegetables do unless you add organic matter.

Thanks so much Danny! I hope that you will speak to fertilizers. For years we have not used a commercial fertilizer and have had very inadequate production. It seems like we would work and work and not have anything to show for it. I appreciate that you have no problem explaining that your plant has only so much time to reach a certain place or it won't produce. (I never knew that) We don't want to use chemicals on our garden but some well timed fertilizer along with our more natural additives may be what we need to reach our goals. Thanks for your honesty!Btw, we live in GA, on the line where the Piedmont meets the Plains, so we are very sandy as well.

Man Danny....I agree with you but i'm finding that a lot of people look at clay as a sort of bad guy if you will. The importance of the clay that most don't seem to give credit to is that it's the clay that hold most of the nutrients within the soil. I suggest to people that they shouldn't be below 30 - 40% clay. I am about 90% clay right now and it's killing me with water retention but i do recognize the value and importance of it.
