Hi! Nice to see yall again! Since I live in an apartment I dont have a garden, yet I plant like crazy in containers on my balcony. Since the food situation is as it is now I only plant veggetables that will yield me the most food this year such as zuchini, raddishes and greens (cucumbers too. Wishing us all asuccessful growing season! God bless!

What a blessing to see Luke helping out in the garden. I know he loves gardening! Looking forward to seeing you reap the rewards from your garden. Oh yeah, How are the bees?

I think I'd like to try and grow sweet potatoes next year as an edible ornamental. I've seen they can be very pretty with a Morning Glory plant look, as they are in the Morning Glory family.

Those banana skins will take forever to break down. I recently uploaded a video on making a liquid fertiliser out of them. If you have a lot of skins, you might want to try that for next year's garden. Good to see Luke up and about in the garden, enjoying the spring.

Hello from California...I found your channel about 6 years ago while living in Livingston Texas. I was running a small organic farm and your knowledge really helped me make a lovely place on this planet...thank you ...and tell Luke his goatee is looking cool..🙂

I’m new here & have subscribed because you seem to be a nice man who is willing to admit you don’t know everything, & are trying different ways of growing. I’m looking forward in seeing how the different ways of planting work.

Hubby has planted turnips and onions. He has to wait a bit to plant potatoes and sweet potatoes etc. Looking forward to fresh veggies for us and to share. Love the garden gate. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thank you. I have added onions to that raised bed garden since this video was recorded. I hope your garden does well!

You did well with your determinate potatoes. It makes me sad when people choose determinate varieties for towers and then say they don't work. You're right something is better than not trying at all! Good luck! It was awesome watching you and Luke work together again!
@daddykirbs2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. See, there is something else I need to learn. I have heard that there are both determinate and indeterminate varieties of potatoes, but have never looked into it enough to know which is which and how to treat them differently. I'm glad I may have gotten these right :)
@stacyschaffer7832 жыл бұрын
@@daddykirbs It works much like tomatoes only upside down. Determinate create one 'crown' where they break through the earth and produce tubers below it. Indeterminate keep branching below the ground every time you hill them. So if you hill six times you get six crowns and six sets of tubers. That makes them perfect for a successful tower.

Good to hear about your success with carrots in the Green Stalk planters as mine are cultivating some and will be planting more. I have found the cornstarch method of planting carrot seeds has yielded 100% germination for me as long as I keep the soil gently watered. I'm in zone 5 southern Pennsylvania. Good to see you back!!!
@daddykirbs2 жыл бұрын
Oh, I'm gonna have to look up the cornstarch method.

Luke looks great! Your video and sound quality are excellent. I just started using banana water on my gardenia and it's doing fabulous and has tons of blooms. We soak the peel overnight and use the water the next morning, then the peel goes into the compost.

I have to poke potatoes back into the soil all the time, next year I will plant deeper
@daddykirbs2 жыл бұрын
If they are exposed above soil, I'd go ahead and add soil around the base. This will protect those babies and possibly, just maybe encourage more growth. Even if there are no more potatoes formed, at least those poking through will be saved.

What is wrong with natural gardening; have you become a salesman now ?
@daddykirbs2 жыл бұрын
Nope. I showed 3 ways that I'm gardening this year in this video. One of the ways shown is the Greenstalk. I'm sure that's the one you are concerned about. I've been using them for several years now, and I like them. It's true that I could make a few dollars from that if people use my link and code, but this video isn't all about that. Did you watch the rest of the video that had nothing to do with Greenstalk gardens?
