This video will explain you how to take care of your seedlings, once they have sprouted. Many seedlings will have to be transplanted into bigger containers to give them more room to grow but this will also add helpful nutrients. Thank you ‪@gardenstead‬ for helping creating this content!

My name is Patrick, The Frenchie Gardener, I’m an urban gardener, certified of Permaculture, based in Berlin. I’m growing on my balcony organic seasonal vegetables & fruits, free of pesticides & reusing as much resources around me to nourish my soil. I waited 36 years to plant my first seed, I had no gardening knowledge and my goal is to show you that we can all grow a lot in containers even on small urban spaces. We all have a green thumb, we simply need to put into practice. Let’s welcome back Nature into our cities and our lives, to recreate this essential connection with food, seasons & ecosystems.

I recently saw a nice tool for removing seedlings at a well-known supply company but it was expensive when you include the shipping. So, I decided to make my own. I bought an inexpensive spatula at the dollar store that had a very soft end to it. With sharp scissors, I cut it down on the sides to fit two- inch seedling trays. Works like a charm! Since the spatula has a slight curve in it, and it is very pliable, it scoops up the seedlings with no damage!

When the time comes that I need to do this, thank you. This is gonna save me mostly dingy finger nails, but most important hopefully saves the plants themselves.

I truly enjoy and learn from your content. Merci! I purchased a tomato plant that was already started. It’s currently grown to 16in and it’s still In the 5 inch pot that it came in. I’m not sure what to do next for it. I purchased it to plant in a container not the ground. Do I just purchas a bigger container and plant it there or pull leaves off the bottom? 😩

Yes, I would recommend to plant it in a pot of 20L / 5 Gallon

I'm growing my first seedlings :) Really like your videos. Do you grow enough on your balcony to sustain yourself? And do you also have tips for birds who like fruits/vegatables a bit to much? ^^

Thank you! You can't be self sufficient with a balcony, but you can still have seasons in which you don't buy any tomatoes, radishes or lettuce for example
