Would you and Stewart be willing to do an evening garden stroll for us so we can experience the magic of the nighttime garden, the lighting, etc.? :) Would be interested in learning more about the type of lights you have!

I would always use the botanical name (generally I think we do that more in the UK) as there is less room for error. Common names are different depending on the country you are in. The botanical name sometimes gives you a clue about the plant as well. Your garden is looking fabulous.

Loved seeing the weeding and propagating! I also have squirrel moments in the garden, where I start one task and keep moving on to others. Especially with weeding. It usually happens when going back and forth to the garage for different gardening tools, so I pack a bag with all different ones so I can avoid the back and forth.

Your front garden is filling in so beautifully! Thank you for the great tips on creating new plants and expanding coverage with snippets of existing plants. I like the new umbrella color much better; wise decision and a bonus that you can use the other one in the backyard. I find common names easier to remember; however, since I’m concentrating on native plants, I do also use the botanical as it’s important when purchasing natives to be specific. Wednesday’s walk-about was great fun!

Oh my goodness, I made the same mistake, I bought a tan umbrella and it's just not right. When it's open it even looks a little yellow so now I have to either keep an umbrella I don't like or buy a grey one I know I'll like better. Unfortunately it's too late to return. 😏 So, now that I see how awesome your grey one looks, I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and spend the money for a grey one I know I'll love. Oh well.... Your yard is looking beautiful Linda! It's amazing how much you've accomplished in such a short time!

Hi Linda! You have some very pretty plants and plant combos. I was wondering though, why you don't have a designated path through them. As the plants grow, it's going to be harder and harder for you to step around in them. Also, visitors are limited to only seeing the garden from the central walkway, sidewalk or street. One of my favorite things to do in my garden is to walk the paths looking at everything. And, when my neighbor's grand daughters visited, they loved walking through the garden that way too. Anyway, it's just a thought.
@judyburton6338 Жыл бұрын
I agree. I think a path on both sides would be nice so you can stroll and look at all the pretty plants. That would require moving some plants now though.

.....I think Linda was going to add more stepping stones but just hasn't had the chance to acquire more. At least that is what she stated about late April....As she didn't want o compact the soil. She mentioned she had several speaking engagments then her sons came to visit for Mothers Day and she was rushing to put dome order into her backyard for their visit. I wait like you to see her stone path completed soon.

I am so glad you change the umbrella! I did not like the color of the other one in your garden but did not say anything because I thought it would be rude. But the gray goes perfectly. Also I always use the common name for plants because I remember it easier. And I was out in my garden today. I got a great deal on Kimberly ferns at Walmart that were almost dead. I asked and the manager mark them down to four dollars! I came home and split them and instead of two ferns I now have five. Which I love to scatter ferns in pots around under trees were there’s too many roots to grow plants. They quickly fill in a dead spot.
