Good luck with the new galaposuarus’s! Can you link 3 JR’s you tube channel below? I see a lot of folks on KZbin, like yourselves, breeding diminishing species of tortoises and turtles in captivity, but I rarely see any of the, being released back in the wild to try to re-establish/sustain wild populations (except for the good work you do with the terrapins in NJ). Why is this? Are we too early in the conservation efforts for these slow growing species?

what amazing and beautiful animals,of course I would love to own a Galapagos tortoise,aldabra and a sea turtle but that's a far away dream,however I do have the world's 3rd largest...sulcata/African spur thighed tortoise..newyear is a 6 year old male,I also have a 21 year old female red eared slider,a 15 year old female eastern ornate box turtle and a baby 3 striped mud turtle,I found her in a parking lot and I don't believe in taking nature home but I wasn't going to leave her there she is so tiny!! but wow you have some awesome turtles and tortoises,I love your videos,you guys are a sweet family and I don't want to leave OTIS out,what an amazing little guy,my box turtle will let u hold her for a little bit and then gets squirmy, but she will fall asleep in my husband's lap while he's watching TV lol,the RES has her own pond outside and part of the yard belongs to the sulcata and RES and he has a huge yard,so we still have the other side of the house to work with,the mud turtle lives inside and the box turtle she has her own area outside but we bring her inside a lot because here in Florida the summer temps have been brutal!!! sorry for writing you a novel,Otis really loves u,what a sweet and unique little guy 🐢

@joshuahull99823 жыл бұрын
If you want a giant tortoise you are better off just moving to Florida or Arizona. There are breeders in both of those states and they can be kept outside almost the entire year which will save on electric bills. In a place like Arizona you gotta add humidity by wetting down the enclosure though.

I love you channel!!! The work you do and the way you explain things shows you have a great knowledge of, and caring mentality for, all animals. Keep up the great work!!! P.S. Be careful of that Forrest Galante, he is a pathological liar and does everything for his own fame!! Look into his background and the claims he’s made and you’ll see.
