Agreed. If one understands the engineering nuance of these achievements, it's easier to see the growth rate of Indian skillset. It's phenomenal. Being first, second or third doesn't matter if you are increasing competition in the industrial space by just your presence and lower prices. Just my humble opinion

Forget about top 10 or even top 50 - if it is even on par with our current fastest super computer, it would be a gigantic achievement for India. Very happy for the country's future. But as you said unfortunately people only see records not the efforts and journey. Where we started and where we are. But it's also good that people are more interested in records it gives us more motivation to work hard and achieve more too.

See every country puts efforts based on intellectual capacity and resource availability and funds. The reason in India we look at records is because we're one of the most populated country with largest economy and therefore it's an obvious expectation that we should score higher on those records list. How is it that countries smaller than us do wonders and we're behind. That irks! The where we started and where we are argument applies to all countries. They all at some point were nothing and few were also in trouble or were destroyed but they made it back to the top.

You make a good point about indian populations obsession with scientific records. I guess it is still forward progress that at least a larger population is aware of scientific achievements, in whatever way it may be. However, especially with the absence of good PR from most Government scientific institutions it is our job as the scientific community to spread deep knowledge on indian scientist. You and your channel are playing a part, and I hope more youtubers start covering indian science and technology in depth

The obsession is actually induced, due to religious bashing by the so called Abrahamic religions.
@anandsharma7430
@anandsharma7430 Жыл бұрын
@@jimmatrix7244 I beg to differ. From a general knowledge of sociology (applied mass psychology) and history, it seems that we are so competitive because of the existing stratification of our society, due to which social mobility was earlier very limited, compounded by the extremely long British imperial occupation, which made maybe dozens of generations only dream of upward mobility. Now that things have opened up post independence, we are in a frenzy to obtain status and beat the rest of the group. It's a struggle between the burden of the caste system holding the majority of us back (except Brahmins) and the opportunity that is provided by capitalism and democracy to move up and show the people around us "I am awesome too, I deserve status and I arrived in life" as a reaction to forced inferiority leading to deep rooted emotional insecurity. In short, a society full of inferiority complex sufferers, suddenly given the tools to feel superior, unable to handle the transition in a confusion of conservative casteism and radical liberal freedom. Then there is the past decade of fanning national pride for questionable motives, always having an "other" or "enemy" to hate or overcome. China went through the same thing in the 90s and 00s, but since they actually prospered, now they are thinking way ahead, not competing with the West so to say in many fields, but competing with themselves. China does not have caste and misogyny to hold it back, and they have such brilliant leadership that they have moved far ahead of their developing nation status in just 3 decades. So, whereas India wants to be cooperative and yearns to send the first vyomonaut to the ISS soon, China has its own space station and has bypassed the ISS cooperation phase mostly by having its own independent space program. Traditionally, India's forte is meaningful intelligence and balance, not trying to be the best everywhere like expansionist powers (Europe, USA, China), but being wise, doing things only to the extent needed, in the fields needed. Wisdom over intelligence. We should continue doing that. We're supposed to be the spiritual civilisation, right? The ones that know what to do and what to not do.

U are absolutely correct bro.... We are concerned more about getting there 1st rather than getting it correct or getting it like no one else! This will change in time...

Will be great if these processors can be enabled for Commercial Retail use. End to end ecosystem with open sourced well tested OS, drivers, software and peripherals ecosystem like Raspberry pi System on board will go a long way in commercializing these. And I think CDAC is not fully leveraging this commercial opportunity. And CDAC is great in CPU driven scientific computing, but the world is moving at breakneck pace in AI which requires multi GPUs in a single box plus the fast interconnects (not sure if the interconnects tech by CDAC can be reused here) - and mainly support for Tensor flow like NVIDIA's CUDA drivers. DRDO and all other labs will greatly benefit with this indegenous capability in AI

Using ARM is great. RISC-based x86 will soon be phased out and CISC is the future. We have already seen the power of ARM in mobile computing like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Apple A16 chip. They are efficient and powerful both at the same time. For desktop class CPU, see the Apple M2 Ultra (their flagship SOC), the raw computing power in TeraFlops just blew my mind. Also, we have seen the Fugaku supercomputer using ARM (it is still the 2nd fastest Supercomputer) which tells the world that ARM can be used to create HPC. An Exaflop of power will put India from nowhere to the top of the world. I just hope to see this happening soon.
