hey, thanks for the videos. i have a question. i play mundo a lot, but also garen at times. but i still dont see against which comps garen is better than mundo. mundo also offers a very strong sidelane presence, is a decent teamfighter and against teams without MaxHp Damage he is unkillable. So, when to pick Garen over Mundo? Im certain there are reasons, but i dont see them yet.

They are very different champions in my opinion. Mundo struggles hard earlygame and need a lot of items before he can oneshot people whereas Garen only needs a few damage items. With Garen you can clear waves faster and therefore spend more time running around the map looking for plays. This take mundo a bit more time to do (slower waveclear and often doesnt build as many speed items). Mundo is more of a "slower" (ik he can be fast but compared to Garen he is usually slower) tank that can frontline for his team while getting kited unless enemy team are melee champions. Garen can easily run down enemies with stride breaker and his q + other speed items that he usually buys, I therefor see him as a Tank - Assassin and not like a Tank - Fighter as I see mundo. If you are lower elo (iron - gold) you shouldnt worry too much about rotating around the map and therefore garen loses a bit of value over Mundo. But the higher you go, the more map precense is important and the extra tempo from Garen is great. I would not pick mundo if they have any champion that can buy BORK or has inbuild max hp damage. I would also not pick him if the enemy toplaner is a hard counter to mundo (mundo has very few, if any good matchups toplane). Im far from an expert on Mundo and Would recommend you to ask @briefcase_man if you want to know exactly when to pick mundo. hope this helped you a bit :)

@@erislashVODs thank you for the very detailed answer. I got top 80 with Mundo on EUW last split, peak dia 4. After reflecting what you say it makes totally sense. Especially the part that Mundo needs items, and can have some pretty rough first 15 minutes of the game, where he low prio and therefore less impact. That was especially visible in the higher ranks. I think I'm still way more comfortable on Mundo, that's why I asked this question I suppose. Mundo Q and E makes his Laning Phase much more safe in case of bad matchups. In some cases I also opt for artillery comet build (inspired by briefcaseman). Especially counter matchups feel much harder on garen. But you are completely right, especially the part with the prio and impact timing of both champa. I often catch myself going phase garen due to lack of confidence.
