Ex-Fuji shooter here. As far as I was aware, the DR settings do absolutely nothing to the raw file, after all raw is unmodified data. It’ll probably affect the jpeg preview on the back of the camera, but that’s all. And perhaps it may add metadata to the raw file in case some raw converters can read it and apply those settings in post, but Adobe ACR/Lightroom won’t. You’ll just get an unmodified raw file - as it should be.

so, in my humble opinion, numbers 7 & 17 were the best shots. Great reflection and also a bit of a portrait, and then 17 was great. Big umbrella and composition was good. Almost had a little mystery not seeing the guy! Anyhow, well done mate. THX.

My first decent camera was a Nikon F. No Photomic head, just trial and error which lead to experience and a reasonably good eye for exposure. Fully mechanical. No batteries required. Used it for years all around the world, in all sorts of bad weather and harsh conditions. Then deteriorating eyesight and the digital revolution took over, and made it obsolete. Can't afford top line, fully waterproof professional cameras and am now restricted to advanced level DSLRs. Consequently, a weather forecast is now part of my photo planning. How I miss those miserable, rainy days, rating my high speed 400 asa film at 1600 and keeping my fingers crossed for any result at all.

Rather you than me but hey you got some keepers! I used my camera once in a really bad downfall of rain, so I went in a pub to dry off both myself and the camera, after 2 hours I came out sloshed, never again. But it was St Patricks day......thanks for trip into London.

I trust my Olympus EM1 MkII with the 12-40 F/2.8 Pro in those conditions and it hasn't yet let me down. There are some great images to have in those conditions and its important to have a camera that will survive them. Enjoyed that one Gareth.

And here I make my video appearance again! 😁 I actually do have an issue with the XT4 under the rain, even the lightest drizzle: the moment one tiny drop hits the eyepiece, the screen goes completely blank and unusable. Fuji say it's normal but it didn't happen with my previous cameras 🤷🏻♂️ Anyway, looking forward to our next walk! And thanks for sharing the few photos I took 🤗

Enjoyable post, Gareth.👍 Good pacing and vid editing. Love new phrase “Camera Parent” - had not heard that one before. Pic numbering a big plus to encourage viewer input, same for running commentary. Pics 7 and 8 best for balanced reflections, IMO. Re: XT-4 missed focus, how come? Was that due to spot focus setting - e.g., pic 16 foot in focus but not round “keep distance” sign? Would wider focus area solve issue? Mystery meaning of “piss” in title not cleared up until 9 min or so - thought might have to do w/dog or some subject answering nature instead of high volume of shots out of cam. “Shifting giggles”?? What happened to Roman’s XT-4? Did it recover? Cheers!

Great video Gareth. When is the next F8 mag out? I had a Panasonic GX8 and a 12-35mm f2.8 lens at an open air concert, never stopped raining and I never put the camera away. 3 hours of stood in the rain wet through and freezing. Camera never missed a beat and survived to shoot another day. I now shoot Fuji XT1 and XT2, never had a problem with either of them also.

I have X100V and Panasonic G80, both weather sealed, by idk .... with Panasonic I wonder how zoom lenses are weather sealed so they do not suck water and how easy is for water to evaporate and both cameras have some suspiciously looking dials, microphone inputs, ... well, Panasonic survived one hour of constant use in light rain and two hours of completely soaked backpack and camera bag in/after heavy downpour that ruined my previous mobile phone. But even old Panasonic GF1 survived being used in dense wet snow when I did not noticed how much snow got into camera bag where it melted and I when I took camera one hour after I returned home, there was condensed water everywhere.
