One of the reasons Fuji has succeeded is because of it's users: they are vocal and active. Magazines and videos specializing in Fuji, plenty of online supports from Fuji itself. Fuji is very supportive of it's user base and I think photographers appreciate that.

Film simulations and the retro dials are what sold me to owning a Fuji system. Bought the XT2 because it was my dream camera since 2017, only able to buy it now since I’m newly working. Now going back to the film simulations and the ability to customize and use recipes online are a huge thing/time and money saver to me. Sometimes the recipe is just enough to not edit it in i.e. Lightroom anymore (well sometimes I still do when I need to edit RAW). I temporarily paused (or might quit) shooting film since the prices here for a Colorplus 200/Fujicolor 200 is $20 for a 36exp. Which is totally ridiculous. I’m completely having fun with my XT2 despite being a 7 yr old camera. Got the 27mm (41mm equiv.) f2.8 pancake lens and the 35mm Meike f1.4. Both are completely versatile and street photography friendly (not very intimidating to people at all). I previously used the 50mm on my FE2 and on my d300 (80mm equiv.) so this gives me a totally new perspective and I’m enjoying it!

I have a Fuji X-H1 and an X-T2 and am perfectly happy to use em for years to come. Even the older generation Fujis like mine are exceptional cameras with brilliant lenses to go with them. I think, one of the reasons why people are choosing Fuji over other brands is that a Fuji feels like a real camera and not just like an expensive toy with plasticy buttons and a deep dive into the menu system to change ones exposure compensation for example. In addition, Fujis are very customizable and after the initial setup are quickly becoming very intuitive. I can swap between my X-T2 and my X-H1 and the only difference is, that the X-H1 has no dial for the exposure compensation. Everything that really matters is pretty much the same across all the models of a given camera generation. Put simply... I love my Fujifilm cameras and I would not change them for any other system.

I love my XT 4. I’ve been shooting with all sorts of cameras for years and it wasn’t really until the XT 4 that I felt like my understanding and manipulation of the exposure Triangle really came into play with the way that I shoot. It’s a handsome, compact camera. Not only that I have shot very well paying corporate videos and head shots with this camera. Nobody said anything about it not looking like it was shot with a more expensive camera. As a professional photographer, friend of mine said, all the cameras today are better than any of us really deserve.

I like the fact Fujifilm uses the same sensor for all of their cameras. The stills' photography IQ is basically identical on any X-trans III, IV and even V camera. I also like the Fujinon x-mount lenses, that they use on every single APSC camera body. The APSC market being the main focus for Fujifilm/Fujinon, they put a lot of effort and engineering into their lenses, unlike other manufacturers that tend to be all over the place when it comes to the lens mounts, build quality and the rendering IQ.

Additionally I bought a XE3 a few years back and use it with either the 16mm or 50mm fujicron. It's great since you can actually just fit it into your pocket or in my case the small pockets on my hiking bag. Plus it takes M lenses with a converter really well, making for an even smaller setup. Another reason to choose aps-c over full frame is depth of field. Some types of photography such as street benefit from a smaller sensor for the added D.O.F, it makes zone focusing more forgiving and as a result quicker.

@Not a Clout chaser I have full frame, aps-c, and 1/1.7" sensor cameras and can confirm with experience. Look up on KZbin "smaller sensor depth of field" and there's a few videos breaking it down. When I go street shooting, I often take my Ricoh GRD before my Canon 5D, not just for the compactness but the greater d.o.f that makes focusing marginally faster so I don't miss fleeting moments. Full frame is great for getting shallow d.o.f (bokeh and subject separation) but that is not beneficial for all types of photography.

Circa 2012, I wanted to buy Nikon 5100. I go to a shop in Taipei and I am physically checking on it. Almost purchased it when I glance sideways to look at another customer who is checking out another camera. He had left it 'on' resting on the counter with the lens being 3 cm from the lens cap. I was shocked with the resolution that I saw on the live view screen. That moment I fell in love with the camera against the iconic 5100. The camera was Fujifilm X 10! It has been the best camera for my macro work (up to 1 cm close up!). At another time, I was shooting some flowers in a garden when a professional photographer, shooting a model, asked me to have a look. After taking a few shots, he handed back with a compliment. I does everything and more what my DSLR DOES, except of course changing lenses but with 28-112 mm equivalent F 2-2.8, it kind of does everything.

I would sum it up this way: Fuji is the only camera manufacturer with an actual professional APS-C line-up, all other main contenders focus on FF. Best compromise of lens size and sensor performance. Still too large for me, I'll stick to m43 … 😁 (Yes, if I had to, I would switch to Fuji. I had my eyes on the X100 series, but still prefer to shoot with my Leica IIIf instead. 😉)

I started with a X100 , Than XT3 and now i own an Xpro-3 but that has sadly had the sub monitor / lcd failing problem 2 times now even though the camera is not used much with 8500 shots taken. Fuji still charged me 371 euro to get it fixed a second time outside of warranty so im a bit dissapointed in the brand now . Its clearly a design flaw so in my opinion i was sold a very expensive 2100 euro camera that if you want to keep it from breaking you cant use the lcd screen at all because this problem will keep happening. Im not paying 371 euro every 4000 photos taken thats too unreliable. I know one thing im never pre ordering a camera again , better to wait it out to see if problems appear with it. But Fuji color science , overall aestetics of the camera's are unbeatable for me. I was looking into sony alpha system but i notice the files allways look so clinical and too real so i would have to put in way more time into editing a certain look.

That’s really annoying with your X-Pros, I had mine for nearly 20k shots without an issue, I think I’m in the minority of wanting them to go back to a normal screen on the X-Pro4

Feel your pain re the LCD on the X-pro 3. Have two (as I am to clumsy to change lenses on the fly). Both are used fairly equally. The one I bought new had a fail and the one I purchased 2nd hand is so far fault free. Cost me £200 for the fix - 2 months past the guarantee. Just love using them though.

The x-e2 was fairly cheap and gave me a great entry to the Fujifilm line. Not the most amazing camera spec wise. But, it's fun and enjoyable to have on me.

Fuji cameras are about as popular as they were before the big three took mirrorless seriously. Which is to say not very popular. Possibly slightly more popular now that Olympus sold their camera division. (Oly was solidly #4 for a while)

I just sold my last of a Fuji experiment. A couple of Xt bodies and several fine lenses. I kept all my Leica stuff, Canon bodies and Zeiss primes and I'm back to that. Fuji has that retro look and affordable Leica rangefinder look- but I bought for the glass, size and weight savings when i travel walk streets. As a 28mm guy, I first bought the 18mm and it was great, BUT I hated the APSc and XTrans files. Im doing more Leica again on my shoulder, Q2 and M10R. That was a great 16mm though.

I've been through a number of Fujifilm cameras over the past few years XA2, XT10, XE3, and X100V. The thing is, I always loved how they looked and the colors are great, but I could never really get on with them for some reason. I just feel more at home with my Nikon FM2 and Z6ii, those two just feel right to me. One thing that always bothered me about my X100V was the supposed film simulations. They looked nothing like what I got out of my FM2, in fact, when I put the same lenses from the FM2 on the Z6ii I feel like that combo actually resembles each other more.

Fuji has a huge advertising budget. Their cameras are no better than anyone else's, nor are their glass. I had them, I didn't get along with them and passed them on, and no not everybody is buying Fuji.
@gwarlow Жыл бұрын
Exactly. I have been with Olympus for years, but before that in film days, I had a Pentax K1000 and later a Nikon FM2. I liked both of these but never to the point of assuming they were the greatest cameras ever. A good photographer learns to use the gear they have rather than always be thinking that a different camera will miraculously solve all of their problems. Currently, Fujifilm is enjoying a surge in popularity. In a year it might be some other brand. Who cares? I believe that getting to know the camera you have is key. Great photographs will always follow taking the time to build your skills and developing your “eye”. Cheers to all camera brands!

Unless you are OCD about pixel peeping, dynamic range or you just need the best equipment for work. Crop sensors are better because of form factor as well as price. Just think how intimidating your subjects feel when you are shooting them with a fully kitted full frame dslr that weights almost 2kg versus a small fuji camera.

Fuji is overpriced and overhyped. Poor guys think that only a X100V does cool photos, listening to influencers. Some years ago i loved Fuji, meanwhile i hate it and sold all my Fuji stuff. Poor AF, late in IBIS, if u look at Panasonic, Canon or Sony you get more for your money. 2:35 actually all recent Fujifilm cameras XH-2, XH-2s, XT-5 are much pricier than Full Frame alternatives such as, to name a few, Canon R, RP, R6. Panasonic S5. Sony a7iii, a7iv. Nikon z6 ii....so the whole argument is flawed.
@Goughie Жыл бұрын
Comparing a whole bunch of used camera against a new model price wise…. I think the best comparison is the A7iv and the XH2S, both current gen cameras you can buy new R and RP are I’m guessing are 5 years old and awful in comparison; I wouldn’t even consider them against the XH2S, great cameras but no where near the same specs especially for video S5 is definitely underrated for sure! And the new one S5 II here in the U.K. is the same price I think, definitely a tough one to choose between them! Panasonic deserve more attention! The Sony A7iv and XH2S were the two I struggled to choose between; both very good hybrid cameras and at the time I was buying they were identical prices; The decider for me came down to cost of lenses, and the size of them, and that video wise the XH2S out specced it in pretty much every way for my use case; low light is the big win for the A7iv over the XH2S but I rarely find myself shooting video in bad light

I would add, unique to fuji is its DR400 mode: It underexposes the image while upping the mids and blacks. Basically what you do in Lightroom, except this is done in camera as you hit the shutter. Works in JPG AND RAW! This allows highlights about 3 stops of headroom, avoided that clipped look in mid day shots that plague Leicas. You also get tone curves for shadows and highlights. This combo gives this very filmic falloff of highlights that retain highlight detail, even with high key desert shots. If leica did that (which they can, its all software), it would make their street photography bullet proof, exposure-wise. Also the x-trans 4 sensor and processor combo (xt3, xt4, xpro3, x100v, etc) made for very fast cameras, unlike the higher mp xt5 and xh2

I was looking at rangefinder cameras and it was the Fuji xpro 3, or the Leica m10. Yes, one’s a true rangefinder and one is inspired. The inspired one by Fuji was the better choice for me because $1800 vs $5000. I’ve always liked cameras that people don’t have (I still shoot Pentax heavily and a couple of Leica cameras) so it’s kind of a bummer that EVERYONE has a Fuji. But the upside to that is if everyone had a Fuji, it means there should be strong support from the company and plenty of different choices available

Tell the truth. People buy fujifilm because they don't know how that after 3 years the camera turns into a headache and fujifilm has a terrible costumer service. I bought a x100f back in 2020. Two months ago, the viewfinder's curtain stopped working, having only 10400 shots, so I wasn't able to use the EVF. I've been trying to contact fuji several times and I haven't had any response. I bought the camera in Miami, but I live in Spain. When I finally contactes fujifilm Spain, the only response was "If you bought the camera in the US, you gonna have to go to the US in order to solve your problem" Isn't fujifilm a worldwide company? Well, in order to use the EVF, I had to cover the viewfinder with a piece of gaff tape. This week, I noticed that every time I remove the battery to charge, the camera resets it self and I loose al the settings. This is so annoying. I think I made a terrible mistake getting rid of my nikon equipment just to buy a pretty camera.
