You hit on the key word , enjoyment. Not many of us profit from photography, rather it is usually a negative as far as money goes. So what if our images are poor. It is the act of taking the picture that’s important. Fulfills our hunting instinct.

Big Shirl! Such a lovely Tenby character Gareth! So important to have those moments! Glad the family managed to get hold of you! I had a similar moment from doing Street portraits in Tenby! Captured a mums daughter a few years back who sadly died around COVID time and had the opportunity to give away a framed photo to her mum. A very emotional moment! Keep up the great work and videos mate!

I have found in 9 years of landscape photography that not only the improvement in the images, but your editing skills also evolve over time. I look back at old images and think really. I shoot landscapes now, more with prime lenses and I feel it has improved my composition skills no end. Set yourself a challenge to set your zoom lens, if no prime, to 1 focal length. Photography for me is a realease from the daily stresses of life. Get behind the lens and loose all concept of time. Bliss. Thank you Gareth for all you do to inspire people to get out there with camera in hand what ever the genre.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us, mate. Not only do I admire your photography, but I love watching your interactions with the people that you photograph. I'm glad that you were able to find the photos for that lady's family after she passed, to have as a keepsake. That was a lovely story. Keep on sharing. I always look forward to your videos. Cheers from Sydney, Australia.

Street photography is so important! in years to come the most important pictures are the real scenes that we all see in the streets, Nice one Gareth you spoke a lot of sense in this video...Thank you!

I've only been following you for a few months, but I think this is probably your most inspirational video that I've seen. "Unless you're really good and come back with ten images..." - That statement, right there has lifted my spirits like you wouldn't believe. I've long had an interest in street photography but only this year have I done anything about it. I bought an OM System TG7 - which is a great little camera, but has its limitations. In hindsight I wish I'd gone for something like a Fujifilm, but that in itself I take as a positive because it has made me work harder to get a decent image. Since beginning street photography I find myself looking for images wherever I go, it really has kick-started my imagination and helped my creativity. I'm thinking of pitching my images to bloggers, vloggers and content writers. I have set up a page on Picfair for them to download - do you have any tips as to whether this is worthwhile? Sorry to hear things have been stressful for you, like everything in life, this too shall pass. Thanks again, Gareth. I shall be downloading your zine later today.

Nice one Gareth! I've massively fallen out of the street photography habit, but everything you've said in this video is relevant. Reminds me why I bloody love street. Better get back out there

Great video. I've been trying a bit more street photography myself when I get chance and enjoying the journey. a long way to go, but good fun. I met a chap the other day having asked to take his photo when stood on a barge and thought that would make an interesting photo. We had a ten minute chat as he was on holiday from Texas. Would never had spoken if not wanting to take some street photos.

Philosophically I think people try too hard to avoid complexity, so I like how street photography keeps my eyes wide open and my brain whirring trying to process all the real options. The world has me in its arms when I'm out with my camera. I LOVE random interactions too and tend to know a bit about a lot of things, so can usually chat ok.
