We are headed there in a few days. How cold is the water? We will have two kids but we want to try to do it even if we don’t get very far. Are we crazy or will we be able to handle it?!
@Adam55763 жыл бұрын
@@morganransom8599 You might not get too far upstream with the young kids, but dress warm and they'll probably have fun for a while, and even if the entrance is crowded, it's still beautiful. It's been a while so my memory might be a tiny bit hazy, but from what I remember the water for the first few miles is pretty shallow, your only getting up to around your ankles, so even though the water is Pretty chilly, it's not a big deal, the cold factor comes from canyon winds combined with a lack of sunlight

I'm 66 yrs. old and your video inspired me to walk the Narrows. I took your advice to get to the Park early, I rented the walking shoes and stick, and your Italian "It's worth it " got me to the split and beyond to Wall Street. I had no cell, no watch, I was unplugged from the world. Zion is magical. Thank you for your videos.

I am impressed that you did this hike in Feb without a wet suit... my husband and I have been doing the Narrows and all of Zion since 1986 we have never and I mean never seen a deer in the Narrows. I don't think you know how lucky you are. My jaw dropped watching this video and seeing that beautiful Buck walking in the Narrows. The spot you stopped at is always our destination. we usually stop on top of that knoll and have a picnic and a happy hour. before heading back down. Zion is our peace. so glad you got to enjoy this special place. Please go back in the future and spend more than a few days. Trust me it is worth it. I wish I could post photos here to show you the true beauty of Zion.
I did this hike in December, the air temp was 18F when I entered the water. Saw several deer at the beginning.

The Narrows trail is so beautiful. Once you step into the river, it’s freezing but you get use to it... must wear water shoes along with hiking sticks. We were there 5 years ago, and my youngest was only 5 years old & such a trooper to walk through the narrows

@@kylejoyce Luckily the water was relatively low when we did it, much lower than it was in this video. We had dry suits, but I had the top tied around my wait the whole time. There was one moment where it ALMOST got in, but the rest of the time it was well below waist deep.

I visited my friend years back who relocated to Utah from California for her job and we hiked this...I remember saying Wow a million times over at all of Zion. anyone planning to go to Zion make sure you purchase your shuttle ticket, just went 2 weeks ago, you must purchase your ticket 1 day prior to attending, they go on sale everyday at 5pm, be aware Zion has experienced a 300% + increase of visitors and the shuttle tickets sell out within minutes. Without a shuttle ticket you will either have to hike the 10 mile hike to the Narrows trail or pay $45-60 for a private shuttle to take you.

It would be nice to know how long it took you to get as far as you did so others can plan for their visit. I did this three years ago and I might add that in the beginning its very busy with people totally unprepared for the water. But if you pack a lunch and drinking water it doesn't take long to walk farther than the vast majority of the crowd and then its very peaceful and more enjoyable than you can imagine. Also you can rent your stick and water boots right where you get on the bus. A stick is a must the water boots help keep your feet warmer than your hiking boots will. I did do it in my hiking boots but I had an extra pair of hiking boots because it takes days for them to dry out. Its an experience of a life time.

Cool vid but would love to see you do the famous top-down overnight hike. It's a completely different experience than walking up from the bottom and except for the other hikers in your group (all of which hiked faster than us) you'll be alone for the first day and a half.
