If only some of the Eastleigh cash would find its way huku...Garissa would become the largest metropolis for the Somali nation across the horn of Africa to rival even Mogadishu. And being in a stable Republic, it would certainly be the most favoured by the Somali people. Great place. Great future.

Corrupt politicians and the kenya government is what stopped major developments in Garissa. They burned the City multiple times and ransacked it. Also, a peaceful Mogadishu will rival any major City in Africa. Everything in Mogadishu was built and belongs to the locals. Mind you City is thriving amidst endless wars and foreign governments constantly meddling with it. Foreigners didn't built the tallest buildings in Mogadishu like they did with the Kenyatta international convention center etc.

@@flowerpower7228 Garissa and the whole NFD region has been repressed by the regimes that were at the helm of Kenyan government for decades. They burned and looted the town multiple times in the past. They continued what their colonialist masters ordered them to do. No City in Kenya is actually as "developed" as Nairobi. Your comparison for a progression trajectory barely makes any sense. Since Nairobi is the capital City and the epicenter of all sorts of businesses within the country.

I visited garisa in 2018 while working in mwingi and i was amazed by how huge and developed it is, i was not expecting it to be that huge from the picture i have in my mind of NFD. Having lived in meru, i would say garisa is expansive compared to meru which is very squized as compared to garisa. Most of the Mt kenya region towns are squizzed this includes embu and nyeri. In terms of hotels i only visited nomads and almond the only two notable classy hotels. It is only almond that had a swimming pool but i dont know whether the gate man lied about nomads not having a pool because from how huge i saw it i doubted it not having one ( i was on foot which most kenyans interpret as poverty and gatemen might say it as a way of turining you away even if you have money to spend) but from that comparing it to meru in terms of high end hotels meru is way far. I visted the market which it is huge. The town has a huge potential because R.tana is within town yet i did not see any hotel along the river banks or animal parks or gardens for relaxation It is realy difficult to compare most towns in kenya unless youre comparing them to way huge towns like Nairobi mombasa, kisumu, nakuru, eldoret and thika but after those towns garisa ranks in the ranks of kakamega where i went to cumpus. I stayed for only two days im ready to be corrected by its dwellers

@ksgrmdsdl23832 жыл бұрын
Why is North Eastern Kenyan towns underdeveloped despite the disbursement of devolution money since the promulgation of new constitution in Kenya for nearly a decade now? Residents of these areas need to hold their leaders accountable for underdevelopment. Unless you guys develop your own towns in North Eastern regions, it is hard to attract new investors and it means that your people will always lag behind the rest of Kenya in terms of economic and social development.

Shameful. This city should have had modern infrastructure in 2022 but, this, is embarrassing to say the least, for such an educated clan for their city to look like its from the stone age. You can tell the lower govt are corrupt, because no God fearing, educating leader would have their capital look this poor and backwards. Ogaden, do better. You have wealthy educated population they need to start investing in Garissa before developing another mans land. bring Ogaden businesses in eastleigh, Jigjiga, Xamar, Hargeysa and Nairobi to Garissa. Stop fattening other ungrateful somali clans populations. We need to replicate same for every Ogaden lands including Ogadenia and Waamo. We are literally a nation of its own, one who does not need others to rely on.
