If all a new hobbyist were to do was gloss over the medicine aisle at his favorite local fish store and observe the proliferation of garlic-based treatments, or peruse the various online postings of garlic's proponents, he would surely come away with several likely impressions
Various brands of fish food are now even promoting that they have added garlic to their recipes. And yet, none of these alleged benefits has ever been proven. That is not to say that no studies have been done on garlic and its use to combat fish diseases. Several studies have been published regarding garlic, but none of these has dealt with Cryptocaryon irritans, which seems to be the most common ailment for which garlic's use is advocated, likely because it is simply the marine ornamental disease most commonly encountered.

The most powerful component of garlic is a chemical it contains called allicin. Allicin is the chemical in garlic that does have the power to actively and directly kill parasites. It has been shown in scientific studies to actively kill parasites including freshwater ich, marine white spot (also known as marine ich), and others.
The experiences of many aquarists support the idea that garlic alone can kill parasites. Many people have used it to treat marine white spot in a reef where almost no medications can be safely used and the ones that can be used are hit or miss at best. Others have successfully used it to treat freshwater ich and other illnesses.

we left a comment on this video but it didn't stick....annoying YT....garlic is the most powerful vegetable on the planet and we eat it everyday....we have never given it to fish but we would definitely try it if we have an issue....we have only used meds a few times and try to work more preventatively but stuff happens....

Garlic does I’ve used it for a couple of times now already. It is a true fish saver. You must feed your fish garlic on a regular basis if not daily.

​@@livelifefully7 Crush or cut some fresh garlic into very small pieces. You don't need much (a single piece of a garlic clove is enough to feed my 5 aquariums). Boil some water, put garlic in and let cool in a cup so that it softens. Once cooled, put that "soup" or "tea" in the aquarium (including water). You will be amazed how fish love that. I do this once a week.

My beta wasn’t eating and kept sinking I reduced the amount of watts it was in and a couple small pieces of garlic overnight and he was more active and ate this morning

Im dealing with ich right now in my 110 and been dosing a herbal treatment because my puffer and eel wont tolerate copper and garlic hasnt helped but now im trying garlic ginger and vitamins and seems to be helping a bit ill check back in a week or 2 to see if its works

Did you ever try to chew on a garlic clove, I did and it actually hurts my teeth and burns your tongue and gums worst than anything I have ever tried that wasn't man made, so it might be able to cure ich in the right dosage who knows
