Welcome back. I haven't heard from you in awhile. I hope all is well. That was a great harvest. Mine failed misserably. Due to an injury I was unable to care for it. I'll try again this fall. I love the look of your garden with the raised beds. Take care until your next video.

They look great! This year the really small bulbs that i pulled up i peeled and fermented. Once im ok with the flavor ill put it in the food processor and mince it. Stick it in the fridge and have it handy for meals. I also planted green garlic a few weeks ago. They will bulb up a bit, more like a medium onion. Ill use those to make honey garlic.

I saw kinda neat idea for garlic or onions, it was a stand up wire rack with 3 racks or shelves had wire bars or even squares would work if the garlic bulb doesnt fall through... just far enough apart to slide onion or garlic greens through, and hang them upside down in each row of wire. They were all in the air upside down, and out of the way. Exposed to air all around. I suppose you could just put the whole rack in your dry storage and leave them hanging...Just a thought. Love your garden such a beautiful job. Thank you.

Nice harvest! I was late getting mine in.. I usually like to plant my cloves Oct-Nov.. but like last year I just got busy and wasn't able to plant them until about March. Very late in garlic growing terms, but it will go longer and harvest later without issue. I believe last year I pulled them in August and they were fine. This year they're still very dark green and healthy with no signs of yellowing yet. Getting very hot and dry here so constant watering is key! My variety is "Music" garlic. Hardneck porcelain white / purple. Has about 4 cloves average per head, which makes for larger cloves and easier/less peeling. The taste is great and like you said - Once you get some garlic growing you'll have it the rest of your life.

I think the garlic is like onions and requires the long days at the end for best quality. Hope your's comes out good. You can't beat the flavor of home grown garlic. Thanks for watching.

Wonderful garlic harvest! Idk why, but I can't grow garlic. I get some green coming up, then nothing. Hope you have a happy 4th of July! 🇺🇲🎇

Do you start it in the fall and use seed garlic? That grocery store bought garlic is treated so It doesn't sprout in storage. Thanks for watching.
@mishalea5 ай бұрын
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 I've bought seed garlic from a landscape company and regular garlic from a farm, so not sure what the deal is.

If you live in a warmer climate I wonder if it would help putting it in the fridge a couple weeks before putting out. Cold seems to activate it into fast growth. Compost works best for me and you may want to prepare a fresh bed to try as it could be the ph in your soil. Good luck.

@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 thank you. I'm in KS, occasionally with wind chill it gets in the negatives, so cold enough. I will try a fresh bed this year.

I tried an Amish hard neck from MI Gardner last season. It did outstanding I’ll be planting it again

That sounds good. Buy once and have garlic for life. Ours is a mild German hardneck with amazing flavor but it doesn't store well like the softneck. Thanks for watching.

It was a good year for garlic in north Texas. Except for our elephant garlic. I’ve never been able to grow them up to their potential.

I have never tried that but from what I have read it takes cool weather to get really big. Our Amish store has some almost as big as a softball now for sale. Thanks for watching.

Off topic, but I'm trying a new steak recipe I saw. Equal parts A1 sauce and BBQ sauce. Put on steak and stab all over. I used a jaccard. Let it marinade for an hour at room temp. He said it was a special at his restaurant and sold out every time. Happy 4th! PS Buy A1 at the Dollar Tree. Even a better price than Costco.
