Hope you can find a source for more onions. You can grow green onions seeds right now. What remains in ground, they will overwinter beautifully. Gurneys seeds sells overwintering, onion sets you plant in fall. Early harvests in spring of green onions then lv some to bulb up, early summer. Is am zone 5b/6a.

Well what do you say about this video of yours young lady, firstly congratulations, you have achieved what most growers of this wonderful plant aspire to. I have been a grower for 35 years, I usually harvest around a thousand bulbs a year, your harvest was exceptional, kudus to you, your enthusiasm and joy with what you have achieved was a pleasure to see, here is a tip given to me by my gardening mentor who was of Italian and Yugoslav decent, he said to me eat a raw clove of garlic every morning and you will never have a sick day in your life, you don't need to chew it just swallow it whole or cut in quarters and then swallow it , you will never have a sick day in your life, he lived to a hundred, so who am I to argue with his wisdom.

Well done! Here in the UK it has been one of the worst years for growing garlic. We have had very poor weather for most of the year with a lot of rain all spring and early summer, cold nights, low light levels. We have a fungal disease called Rust that affects plant growth and this has been the worst year I have known for it.

I plant 4" down and smother with straw. I space at 7" and inter-plant all rows. I trim off the roots to minimize mold and speed up drying. This summer I haven't had to water. I only grow Music, 30 years organic when I got my first batch 4 years ago. Keeps getting better as a rule.

Awesome job with your garlic! A few things I've had luck with are digging up the heads instead of pulling them by hand. Yeah, it's fun and it makes a great noise, but I've had a lot of tears with the softneck varieties. If I damage the stem it doesn't store very long. I also take pictures of my painter's tape, because life happens and tape doesn't always stay put. Especially in my garage. :) Thanks for the great video!

This is my second season attempting garlic. Last year I planted in the spring and the bulbs were so so tiny that I harvested. This round I planted last fall and there are still a few that look like they’ll be small, but a couple of them look like they’ll be massive! I’m so excited! I’ll definitely be taking your suggestions into consideration for next year. My only issue with spacing is that I’m really limited on space, so I try to pack everything in as tight as possible. Maybe this next planting I’ll put garlic in every bed rather than trying to just get them all into two beds.

@@itsbreellisthey're in full sun but what is heavy feeders?
@Brodmann3127 ай бұрын
They need frequent fertilizer application.
@sarahtrew93317 ай бұрын
@@di4085you’d be better off growing them in a bed or planters; if a bed you can make sure there is well composted manure mixed in your soil or compost to help feed them while they grow (I amend heavily and haven’t needed extra feed for a good harvest) or in planters you will need to get a fertiliser and feed them regularly. You can get a garlic fertiliser or Bre used a fish and seaweed fertiliser for hers I believe. Spacing is important too, so remember to give them enough space between cloves to have good airflow and room to grow. Good luck growing for next year 🌱
