I think because it's two recognizable flavors mixed in an unholy concoction. But if something is just disgusting on it's own merit it's passable because it's just gross from the start. For example, a burp is more disgusting than a fart. A fart smells bad but a burp smells vaguely familiar to the food that person ate.
