Garmin Fenix 8 - unboxing

Interested in seeing your opinion on the software quality of the Fenix 8. On the Garmin Forums (and other places) there is a lot of talk about bugs and missing features related to maps and navigation compared to Fenix 7 / Epix Pro (Gen 2): not being able to enable/disable 3rd party maps, missing turn by turn instruction for courses, no elevation profile during an activity, roads on third party maps have thick black borders (also an issue on Fenix / Epix, was an issue on Edge cycling computers but fixed now), no option to see navigation screens, map rendering slowly, to name a few. Interestingly the big fitness KZbinrs didn't mention any of this...

Hi I hope you are okay Jim, thanks for the message, we are just starting to put together on Online Training Course Videos for customers who purchase a device from us, hence we are out using the watch more in the field ourselves, as with what seems to happen with Garmin these days there has been quite a few firmware update since we unboxed the watch, we are currently on fw 11.89, Turn instructions not where I initially expected it to be, but with a Course loaded & navigation started when I either swipe left to right or tap middle left button , there is a course name box, if you tap on this and there some extra navigation data screens and also an elevation screen + I also just added an elevation screen to the normal data boxes for my activity fine and it is showing a graph for my course. I have not tried any 3rd party maps yet, I did noticed when I first turned it on a few weeks ago the Topo Active maps seems to have some strange large name fields but with latest update they are also all good, map rendering seems to be the same speed as the Fenix 7 and Epix 2 that we had used prior to testing this watch. I am sure there will be more updates to come, we will add some new videos soon once we have created some more online course videos. All the best GPS Training

After waiting,and doing lots of research,the fenix 8 doesnt do that much more than a fenix 7,and im glad i waited,i bought a fenix 7 with a huge discount,and im very happy with it,i think garmin are going to be hard pushed to justify the eye watering price of this watch,dont get me wrong,its a great looking piece,BUT,at that price its priced me out,and to be fair,my fenix 7 does exactly what i want it to do. I might buy one when they bring out a fenix 9 😂

Hi, great video I just want to know some more feature regarding receiving calls. Normally i wear wireless bluetooth, so if i answer the incoming call from the watch, so the voice of the other person will come from the watch, mobile or my connected wireless bluetooth? If, by answering the call from the watch, the voice of other person comes from the, so does the watch has the option to switch the voice of other person to my connected bluetooth from the watch itself..? Please make a detail video of it Thanks....

Thanks for your feedback apologies not a feature we have tested yet, we would think that that sound would come through the paired headphones the same as navigation speech alerts do currently
