I personally am not buying multiple watches like many KZbinrs. For one watch that thrives in the most situations the Apple Watch is king. I workout at most for 2 hours in a day. That leaves 22 for the nor fitness features to make a big difference. I’ve used the Apple Watch Ultra to hike through mountain ranges and scuba dive, plus the smart watch features throughout my work day. On top of that it does a good job on running several hundred miles a year. Garmin does great for 1-2 hours out of the day while Apple does well plus thrives in the other 22-23 hours.

You’ve made a lot of these comparison videos Shervin and I’m still undecided LOL! I have the Fenix 8 51mm and the black Ultra 2. But before that the Epix pro 51 mm and the Ultra 2 and I still can’t decide which one. I’m constantly taking one or the other off when I’m not running or working out. But when I do any activity I wear both always. I use the Ultra 2 as a mini phone and music player when I’m running, that way I don’t have to carry the phone. The Fenix added a microphone but it still feels like just a fitness watch and I get really annoyed when someone calls it a smartwatch because it’s not to me. I’ve had Garmin pay since it was introduced on the 645 and to this day it won’t accept any of my cards. But the Apple Watch excepts every last one of them, that’s just one example. The track function on the Ultra 2 is next level. To me they destroy the Garmin on that, it’s just way more seamless to use than the track function on the Garmin. The battery life for me is not an issue. I get that some guys don’t wanna charge their watch everyday but that never bothered me. Even the Ultra charges pretty fast and gets me thru the day. The Ultra 2 has mastered the smartwatch side of things and it’s pretty exceptional with the fitness side too. Right now the only thing that Garmin can scream is battery life in days and not hours. The Ultra 2 doesn’t do some things as well as the Fenix 8, but it does a lot of things well whereas the Fenix 8 just screams fitness, scaling mountains and being out in the wilderness for weeks at a time. For average guys like me the Ultra 2 is fine.

Really enjoyable video Shervin! Many times people will show a summary screen when comparing runs. You spent considerable time showing us the tracks and even mentioned how the Apple Watch typically shows a shorter distance but never from what I saw showed us the distances of all the runs. Garmin pin only has to be entered once every 24 hrs unless you take the watch off. Use a hot key combo and it can be as fast as using Apple Pay.

@BeaverTerrorАй бұрын
Sorry to say this but that was a major miss on the heart rate data comparison. The two watches are different from each other, but which is closer to correct? You should have worn a chest rate strap paired to a third watch in your pocket to record the correct data, so we can see which of the two wrist watches is actually reliable for heart rate. You spend all that time talking about GPS accuracy but missed this heart rate test which is equally if not more important. Maybe another short video.

HEAR ME im gonna be blunt for someone living in Malaysia, having a smartwatch is actually a waste compare to fitness watch. because our infrastructure and daily life does not support many of "quality life" feature in smartphone let alone smartwatch. And while i visit Singapore, i very much understand why smartwatch like UA2 is such a convenience thing. You don't need to bring a phone, wallet and can travel almost everywhere in ease. For example, garmin pay and apple pay. both are not yet widely available in Malaysia. so, you still need card for transportation, food payment, pay bill. Another example, 3rd party vs Build in. due to the 3rd party you need to subscribe to get some of the the importance data in AW or other convenience software. it cost a lot for us. 10 USD monthly in Malaysia is already a 40 - 50 dollar malaysia. And 40 - 50 dollar Malaysia is already a 2 - 3 days meal. So, depends on where you are living/staying. sometime, having a smartwatch does feel stupid and wasted buying it. Conclusion, Garmin for me because where im living. i might consider AWU if i moving to europe/US

I went back and forth for a while and decided on Garmin. With that it has given me full permission to leave Apple.

I have the Garmin but would go back to apple if I could get at least a week of battery.

When it comes to the fitness metrics, the Apple Watch has the same problem as Apple keynotes - graphs without any numbers or units 😂 It's just bizarre to see a more advanced training metric like training load there without a number attached to it to show the exact load. Just simplifies it down to "make graph go up = good" lol

Each his own, i can't see why you wouldn't wear a fenix on formal occasions, you can get a steel or titanium band and put a classic watchface,.. you can also just buy the 47 mm, still around a week battery life and plenty for an around the clock ultra hike/ run/ride/... but far less prominent compared to the 51mm,.. a scratch on the bezel of your garmin is hardly visible, on the coated ultra it's the first thing you see,... Me, i found out that i use the smartwach either as a trainingscomputer/ navigation device or as a remote for my phone once the wow factor wears off,.. I prefer the garmin as a trainingscomputer or navigation device over a classic smartwatch so,... lte,.. i take my phone with me on most occasions as i like the screen estate, the camera, some apps that don't work on a watch,.. in swimming trunks lte helps but the lte subription wasnt free and the only local provider that provides lte for watched has the absolute worst coverage,... I think i would appreciate inreach on a watch over lte. The flashlight,.. top, being able to take a call on the watch without taking my gloves off or the phone out, big upgrade. Still, the fenix is crazy expensive and it took a few months and a lot of upgrades to get to a decent bugfree watch.

Put your Ultra-2 in Airplane mode, make sure the Bluetooth & WiFi options in settings are off and ask Siri to set a timer for 5 minutes. On board Siri requires no internet connection and should set the timer. However, my Black Ultra-2 on board Siri would not work!

Wireless fast charging for the Watch seems to be the best option but the reality is that this way of charging will increase the temperature and will damage the battery… The Garmin way of charging would be better if you want to take care of your battery. But nowadays it seems that all the people in KZbin wants wireless ultra super fast charging… then you read on Twitter people crying that the battery health of their iPhones is bad after one year… what a surprise! I hope Garmin never implement wireless charging, is ridiculous.

Not apple to apple comparison. AWU is a smart watch with fitness tracking capabilities and F8 is a fitness tracking watch with smart watch capabilities.

Bro literally said that a downside is him forgetting a charging cable because the Garmin has such an awesome battery life. HUH!?!? Don't blame the watch because you forget something. OR...or...have another cable or two in your bags and there are several charging docks available for the Garmin similar to the Apple's.

Great video. Love the review. Was wondering about both brands view on longevity. Meaning most Apple products after 6 to 8 years will no longer be able to update and therefore the product essentially will become obsolete. I have a polar M430 watch for over six years now. It’s incredible. Runs smooth. My concern with Apple as I have many of their products after six years this very expensive watch will no longer work. What do you think?

If you’re a serious athlete or don’t have an iPhone, get the Garmin. Everyone else should get the Apple Watch
