Looking to add a HR Monitor to my kit and currently reviewing/researching my options. Found this Video very helpful so just wanted to say thank you for the breakdown and comparison between the older Dual and this model here. Appreciate your time and effort making the video!

HR strap: some think it’s “old school”. No, it’s the gold standard!
@bob_kazamakis17 күн бұрын
What is the interaction like on an Apple Watch? Does the watch turn off the built-in monitor and it purely uses the external? Do you choose when starting a workout? Does it switch back over to the integrated one if it dies mid-workout? Does it warn on the battery level if the hrm gets low? Does it show in the health or workout apps that an external device was used for the workout?

I have been using the HRM-Pro Plus for the past few years and even got a brand new spare one because I am so pleased with the model, and because it was on a great offer as well. I find that the straps deteriorate well before the actual HRM but I don't think you can replace the strap on the HRM-Pro Plus, so maybe a good reason to get the HRM 200 in the future. But not until I haved worn out the brand new Pro Plus that I haven't even started using yet 😄

Waiting for Garmin or anyone else to throw in a GPS into the heart rate strap or a watch band so I can use any classic mechanical watch and still get my data.
@richdaillest115 күн бұрын
100% this! Garmin is my 24/7 health and fitness tracker and I love my mechanical watches, but only wear them about a 2 dozen times a year. A heart rate wrist strap with a flashlight would answer all my prayers lol. Only mentioned the flashlight part because since owning a Fenix 7x having a flashlight on my wrist has changed my life.

I’ve been using an HRM Pro +. I feel that’s still a better device than this? Perhaps a group test with the best of the old against the new one 🤷🏾♂️
@DesFit16 күн бұрын
Yes, that's a higher end device. Accuracy will be the same, it's just the additional features that differ.

My problem was the STRAPs electrodes delaminating after a few years. Not the electronics.

Yup, that will be the first thing to go generally. 3 years is about the max for me but it can depend on the PH level of one’s sweat.

I was considering getting a Polar H10 to use for rowing and cycling to pair with my Garmin Forerunner 955, would this be a better option? I'm mainly looking for reliability and ease of use but additional features would be welcome. Thanks in advance 👍

@BenjaminCronce8 күн бұрын
You can technically swim with them, but highly recommend to get the swimming band. It holds in place better and doesn't break down as quickly from pool chemicals. But yes, the device is quite water proof. It can stand up to sweat and a bit of washing.

Do notice any issues caused by getting scratches on optical heart rate sensor? The glass covers seem to get scratched less than the epoxy elevate v4. But thise got scratched all the time and seemed to work fine.

Check the reviews for the Coros HRM. I have been comparing it to the Apple Watch Ultra 1 and Garmin Fenix 7X in my daily workouts for months. It does a very good job. Even for weight training.

So are there any other HR straps as good or better then the HRM pro plus? I have a Fenix 7X Pro SS currently but what also connects to newer apple watches? I want to be able to collect the running data that the HRM pro plus collects and connect to the Fenix as well as the AW. Thanks for all the great content.
@DesFit16 күн бұрын
Not really - arguably the most feature rich on the market. The running metrics on the HRM Pro Plus only get synced to compatible Garmin devices. An Apple Watch can only collect HR from the strap but you can connect to both watches at once.
@craigpostreplyutube16 күн бұрын
since you specifically only state APPLE (iPhone, iPad, etc. ) connectivity, does that mean it is not Android compatible?

@deathcore42016 күн бұрын
So would you choose it over Polar H10?
@DesFit16 күн бұрын
The only things the H10 have over this are a 5Ghz connection for certain gym equipment and offline HR storage, however the offline storage feature can only be used with Polar Flow.

Do you really need the accuracy? No. HR straps started failing on me in only a few months and I just stopped using them. My smart watch is fine, especially if I have the strap snug when I am interested in HR. Syncs great with bike computer just like a strap.

It’s interesting to hear the variety of experiences where some get great accuracy out of a watch and some do not but it also depends on the kinds of activities where accuracy differs.

@markcameron317 күн бұрын
Shame it's not a rechargeable battery, I switched from a Garmin to Coospro as found once the battery was replaced the Garmin heart rate monitor became unreliable.
@profchaos900117 күн бұрын
Hmm, interesting, same thing happened to me, fairly old garmin chest strap and lately it has become unreliable, i did change the battery recently but im not sure the issues started as soon as i changed it, in fact i changed it many times in the past, maybe some of the new batteries dont give out enough power due to bad quality or something? Or is it possible that chest straps degrade over time? Even though i dont see how, this garmin chest strap is made of hard plastic in the sensor area.
@markcameron317 күн бұрын
@profchaos9001 I read it was a known issue, I got a rechargeable Coospro one instead and it's been fine
