Mine telling me what’s the difference between the normal 2X and 2X Tactical aside from the Green instead Red light?

Bit late but, the tactical has functions which are imho really only interesting for military people. You can use them under Night Vision, you have a Jumpmaster-activity-profile for HALO and HAHO-parachuting. And you have the ability to use a "save" GPS-tracking. Because it´s really easy to track GPS-signals from Sportswatches and map out military installations, troop movements and positions. Afaik this killed a russian high ranking officer and enabled forces to exactly map out western military installation. Because where do you take your run when deployed and in camp... right...along the fence inside camp.^^

actually red should've been in the tactical one since red light is less visible to human eye. even more in NVG. maybe you can mod/engineer it to some extend. red tint of some kind. source: Green light is up to 400% brighter and more vibrant to the human eye than red light

Much more than that actually. I'm getting about 56 days in smartmode but it always goes up with the sun. If I switch it to simple watch mode it says 97 days without extra sun. It starts going down quicker when you are using it fullon activities and tracking naturally but I put it on windowsill to get some charge while not using it and have never had to charge it yet on the wall at this point. Impressive :)

@@wambam7290 I would say the solar on these are very good but in the winter in UK I reckon it might struggle to remain fully charged. We shall see but at this point it's fantastic. I know if I really want I can keep it charged and not have to plug it into the grid and that is something I really wanted :) Dragons are doing great. We are currently pairing frillis so fingers crossed!

Its big but its lightweight. More settings and tracking than i could ever want in my life. Fantastic at what it does but have a deeper look into it and make sure its the right one for you. Its arguably the best at what it does.

Short answer is yes the Garmin is on a whole different level. Such a useful tool. Looks and feels rugged enough to hang with the G-Shocks. I loved my Gbdh1000. The GBDH2000 I had to send back due to software and hardware issues and got a full refund from Casio. Casio have fallen so far behind in terms of usefulness and technology....

Yes you can manage how the backlight comes on. Also for how long and at what brightness you wish. Very optimizable.

Gosh i would have no idea. It doesnt need to be connected to operate so i would think as long as components hold out you should be good for a very long time. Based on Garmins previous ruggedness and reputation with the Instinct line they can take a beating too. Certainly feels built to last but time will tell amigo.

I was looking for a smart watch to replace the GSHOCK in terms of longevity and ruggedness and functionality. This would be my first Garmin. Thinking of giving it a try.

@@wambam7290 Funny you should say that as this has been my first Garmin actually. Before this I only used G-Shocks. Specifically the gbd-h1000 and Gbx-100. I tried the new Gbd-h2000 but had issues and sent it back. As long as this isn't too big for you I am pretty sure you will love it and be blown away by how great they are. Casio has really fallen behind these days and Garmin are on a whole other level when it comes to functionality and value. Anyways good luck on your mission either way ;)

I've had my original Instinct for 3.5 years. Still as good as new, and still getting the occasional update. I cant justify replacing it as it gets texts, ring alarm, cell calls, etc. All my phone info shows up on my wrist in real time. and the workout/gps is top notch. I charge it about once a week...even though its never been below 2 bars. nothing against apple or sansung...but I already have to charge my phone every day. Garmin makes good stuff

I used the 1st gen Instinct about 1.5 year and then sold it. The battery wasnt the problem but the buttons went bad. They still worked but it felt like the buttons re stuck.

All depends what you use it for. I have it on bluetooth with everything going and lasts me 40 days before a charge and no sun. If i put it into basic mode its infinate with little sun and never have to charge it.

Red is particularly good for camping at night, because it doesn't affect your night vision or disturb other people. If I got up for the toilet at night, it would be the red that I would use.

@@FrilledNeckDragonUK After looking into it, they did that so you can do this adaptive running or whatever it is. It will flash when you swing your arm back, so that cars can see it and it conserves energy. Which for a running watch makes sense. But yeah. I'm blinded by the possibilities of not having to bend your arm to illuminate things because in that position your arm can't be used for anything else.

I have the instinct Solar (first version) and used it for a year when I was doing mandatoey military service in sweden. Dug many holes in ground getting sand all over it etc and it never got a single scratch on the glass. I imagine this is equally good if not better.
