Does the person you are sending it to, need to download any Garmin app to receive the messages or does the text message just go to their normal Mobile Number?

The recipient will receive the message you have sent them as a text message, which they can read, but if they want to reply to you they will need to download the app. I hope this helps.

@@ukgpstraining Have Garmin fixed the ascent/descent value on a walk error with the latest 8.30 software update do you know? Have you walked since the update?

@@ukgpstraining I don't think that's correct. The recipient can just reply to the text message to send a message back to the inreach. That's how it works with the old Earthmate app, and when not using any app so I can't imagine the messenger app would be a step backwards.

My Montana 700 is not able to contact with this app on my I phone 14 , this is i not the right app for my devise ... ? I also had a question, I walk a roundtrip and the Garmin send me on a street where I can't go, this happened several times, so I go another way and after some minutes the round trip is not my round trip, the problem was ...I walked some kilometers extra, because I have not seen that the trip changed, why does that happen ??? I can't turn back to my trip ..

Thanks for your comment, This app is for Garmin GPS units with two-way satellite communication or for Garmin standalone two way satellite communicators, so not for the Montana 700.
