I have an old ipod touch and because it's so old it wont let me install Garmin Explore because the OS wont go beyond 12.5 and it needs a minimum of OS 14. Is this connectable to anything other than through a phone? Thanks!

Will the 700i work with basecamp on a desktop or laptop PC? I have all my routes and waypoints there and would want to use basecamp to transfer them to the 700i.

Yes, it does work with basecamp

Can you tell me if this device 700 or any in the series take AA batteries aswell as the rechargeable battery that comes with it and do you need a different back plate....and does it take long to recharge the battery
@VermontPrepper Жыл бұрын
Hi Irene. It does not take batteries. It takes probably an hour to charge from empty, maybe less - but I never timed it. Thanks so much for watching.

@@VermontPrepper im very undecided about which to get the Garmin Montana 700 or the 66 series as I'm ultra runner and i had the e trex 30 on last race over 200 miles and i couldn't see the screen thar well and hated it .....
@VermontPrepper Жыл бұрын
Wow, Irene, that is ultra. Good for you. The Montana definitely has a larger, nicer screen, but it is big. If you think you can carry it, that would be my choice, for what it's worth.

The 700 has the option to use AA batteries, I think it may require an accessory but I’m not sure. The 700i and 750i cannot use AA’s

Man, Garmin makes a lot of money with those extra map purchases, especially since you have to buy the same maps over again if you have more than one of there GPS products. I checked and those maps are not cheap.
@VermontPrepper3 жыл бұрын
Yea, it really sucks having to purchase the same maps over and over.
@Schmitz33 жыл бұрын
They use to sell all those topo maps on CDs, I have three of them, and you could put them on as many devices as you wanted. I am hoping I will be able to use them on the 700i if I decide to purchase one. Still debating.
@kishascape8 ай бұрын
@@Schmitz3you should be able to.

You get better way more detailed maps just using GPSfiledepot or using one of the websites to export OpenStreetMap. Both of which are free and more frequently updated.

Is there option to install downloaded maps from a other 700i, is there any trick to do that free because garmin is asking crazy prices

Sorry you cannot do that period you have to buy maps for each device separately.

Hey mate, just wondering if your backlight bleeds on black backgrounds? Considering sending my back 🤔

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you explain a bit more?
@OutdoorsIQ2 жыл бұрын
@@VermontPrepper oops sorry. If you turn your unit to a black background, such as night mode. Can you see the backlight shining though the sides and “bleeding” into the background? Instead of even backlighting everywhere.

Would have been nice if you showed how and where to purchase the maps??? You only showed where to download the maps after you purchased them. Why did you leave that part out?? I thought this was a tutorial video, lol...

Really nice video, instructive however help it to make a devotion of not buying this unit as 2022 not even USB C or any other holding devices included. Garmin really need to step up their devices for a unit of $1000 plus in Sweden

@@VermontPrepper USb micro on my Sony cameras and Dji Drones, are susceptible to damage by fumbling and incorrectly plugging the cable in the socket, and once the USB connection is inoperable the unit is Junk, The USB mini on the Montana is more rugged and is capable of powering the unit if needed in a mobile application, such as the Montana and 60 Series units. I just could not imagine gambling on a fragile connection on an expensive unit that would be so easily damaged. and yes, I do not "have to Buy it" however my comment is to make your audience aware of my experiences with many years of using Garmins. Thanks for the Video

I have Garmins that use Mini USB, Micro USB and USB-C … yes, USB-C is probably easiest to use, but it really is not a showstopper for the others. Biggest PITA is having to carry three different cables. All can be broken if handled rough enough.
