Nice presentation! Looks like an awesome product but a deal breaker for many people. Why did Garmin decide to go to MURS (Multi-use radio service) that no one else uses?! That is a VHF band radio that does not even pair with their own handheld Garmin Rhino which uses the UHF GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service)! That band is the standard now for many off roaders including Jeepers, Overlanders, and more recently SxS, ATV and MC. Further, there are loads of GMRS radios available and nearly no MURS! MURS is limited to 2 watts, and GMRS can go up to 50 watts. So not only does the 2 way radio, but also the great polling or car-to-car location feature not work with the $500 Garmin Rhinos some of us have, nor any of the VHF Race radios or GMRS many SxS's have from Rugged Radios, PCI Race Radios, and others! And, from what I understand, the Tread is not compatible with Polaris Ride Command or the Yamaha products. In short, it appears it does not work with anything other than another Garmin Tread. I don't think others are going to scrap their $2500 systems and run to Garmin. I have long been a Garmin fan and have many of their GPS units. Very disappointing on what otherwise looks like a terrific product...

Because MURS is a license free and GMRS don´t . Car to car location only works if you hace 3G or 4G signal... it´s ok if you ride you ATV in Central Park @ NYC hahahah. GARMIN SUCKS. Don´t be surprised if they stop offering products, accessories or support suddenly... they did and will do it again

@@garretts3619 I ended up actually getting the Tread Base 5.5" unit recently. It is quite impressive. I did not get the higher priced unit with radio and group ride functionality for the reasons I noted above. We use separate radios for our comms system with UHF GMRS and the VHF RACE frequencies. Also have the Garmin "Tread" app on the iPhone. Also, I use RAM 1" ball mounts so the unit can be quickly moved from the SxS, MC, ATV, and snowmobile, and truck. Use a USB cord to power it that plugs into 12 V DC cigarette lighter socket our USB port.

Yes, and what am I supposed to do with all of my Garmin Rino’s. Why didn’t Garmin stick a GMRS radio in the Tread instead they chose the incompatible MURS frequencies.

This is awesome. I have a Zumo XT. I have done the update. Unfortunately I still struggle to get my XT set up properly. Do you have any recommendations on the best maps to download and install on the XT? I do adventure riding and also I have an ATV. Would like to get good maps with trails in the western states. Can anyone point me in a direction?

XT is not capable to route in off road - only you can do this on paved roads. Get Montana 700 at least

How did you go from having 6 accessories connected to 24?

On my side by side I have Bluetooth receiver plugged into the OEM stereo 3.5 audio jack. I steam music from my phone using Spotify to the BT receiver on my radio in auxiliary mode which allow what you have plugged into the 3.5 audio and listen to my music in the exit side stereo. Is it possible to sync the Garmin to the Bluetooth device and allow the music to be played from garmin. Even better if this is possible I think I can side load Spotify onto this unit

So you said if you connect multiple bluetooth mics to a single garmin tread then everyone can chat like on a intercoms "without keying the radio"? I aksed Garmin about this use case exactly when it was annouced and they said it wasnt possible

Josh, sorry for the confusion on this. What we are saying is that you can have 4 people in one UTV using bluetooth coms that are all connected to each other and everyone can talk in full intercom. Only one of these would be connected to the Tread and be able to talk to the other vehicles. For example, the driver is connected to the tread and all three passengers, and the passengers are only connected to the other bluetooth communicators. Does that make sense?

@@rmatvmc yes thats exactly what I was looking for, no expectations on everyone being able to use radio comms (assume they can all hear the radio comms & music though correct?) but the main goal was having the side ability of a single vehicle bluetooth intercomms system for with up to 4 passengers. I thought it would be possible but when I asked Garmin twitter about this they said no after discussing with engineering but that was before the bigger models came out. Maybe they added the feature after I brought it up that it would make it competitive to having the very expensive suite from Rugged radio to accomplish this and also providing navigation functions. Especially now its been found how to sideload android apps on it.

@@SunbrightShinobi We tested this out and it worked for us. Driver connected to the Tread only and passengers can talk to each other within the vehicle.
