Aside from having pre-loaded coastal charts, are there other differences in features between the 79s and 79sc? From one seller, I noticed they didn't have the 79sc in stock so I was considering buying the 79s and loading the coastal charts myself. I'd hate to find that I missed out on other valuable features.

So will the sc with the preloaded maps do all the us lakes like Lake Huron and lake st. Clair along with lake Cumberland?

Thank you for your question. The GPSMAP 79sc comes preloaded with the Bluechart g3 Coastal Charts. Since Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair have "navigable waterways", they are included in the preloaded charts. In order to get detail of Lake Cumberland, you would want to purchase the US Inland Lake Maps.

Thank you of your question. Yes, you can use the GPSMAP 79 series for land navigation, but you will need to purchase the appropriate mapping if you want detailed and/or routable maps.

Brought a 79sc 5 days ago read the menu read the menu on and on it went watched the vids some were just advertising to take your money others told you nothing what I found to be most exciting was the boxes were made from cardboard thanks you Garmin 👻so what would a boaty with a 79sc with a G3map want to know anyway well let me tell you what he wants to know lam leaving home with my boat in day light leaving to go home at 11.00 tonight no moon pitch black with sand bars also some becons with no lights what’s the process would any one after handing over there hard earned cash want to know at least that right away but no you have to dig like a dog looking for a bone 🍖 thank you once a again Garmin 😡
