I saw Garnet Silk in his first career debut in Bronx New York City. The Marley Children were part of that line-up. And, when it was Garnet's time to come out there was not much uproar but after 20 minutes in his act the whole place up-roared to the fact that calmness was requested so that this talent first time appearing Rasta brethren could present his message. I will never forget that night---Garnet was...I cant find words to describe his presence at that stage. I went the next day and bought all his albums. In respect, I believe that I was not the only one who went out the day after and purchased all his albums. The Marley Children was awesome that day on stage. But, they never received the same forward as Garnet did, and he was the backup appearance. Garnet has surely made a mark on all Jamaicans.

@David Henry Great story, brother! Garnet is also my favourite artist of all time. I lived in Castle Heights (Ford Pen Lane) at the time and never lucky enough to see him in Barbican. I knew he was living by Tavistock, Jacks Hillside, but couldn't catch him in Barbican at all, every time my friends would tell me Garnet was just in Barbican square. I would love to hear the cassette of the songs he gave you, wondering if anything on it that is new to my ear or hardly ever played, like a song where he sings "calling, calling, calling long-distance" .
