hm...i'm really confused...the song is key of B...isn't the solo in key of B ? why are we referring to it as E shape scale?

The song is in the key of B, which is why I note the minor/major/mixolydian aspects of the solo. All over the key of B! The "E Shape Scale" or "A Shape Scale" is a way to refer to what scale shape I'm playing over. It's more accurate and I think more intuitive than saying "Shape 1" or something. It's based on the CAGED system which I have a write up about here: garretsguitarlessons.com/whats-point-caged/. Hope that helps!
