LOL love M-Angel's feeling of injustice at Regine not being a judge. Trust me, everyone here wants her to be a judge! Sadly she turns down offers to judge and instead prefers to host as she dislikes to critique other singers. *The Clash is the latest singing contest hosted by Regine. She hosted Star For A Night (Sarah Geronimo was the champion, Angeline Quinto a notable finalist) and Search For A Star in 2003 (Rachelle Anne Go was the champion), Pinoy Pop Superstar from 2004-2007 (Jona was the champion in 2004, Aicelle Santos was a runner up in 2005).* Regine herself is a product of a TV singing contest called Ang Bagong Kampeon (The New Champion) which she won in 1984 and launched her career as a professional singer. Aspiring singers mostly relate and get inspired by her singing contest rags to riches story which includes joining over 300 contests before finally making it big time through Ang Bagong Kampeon. Her singing contest journey and her want to pay it forward / give back to aspiring artists made her the perfect choice to host.

Remember that Filipino celebrities are having sort of multi-jobs like being a singer-songwriter, actor-comedian, singer-comedian, actor-model, etc., so Regine is an actress-singer-recording artist-concert artist and host. Regine also did commercials or advertisements like of a milk brand with her and Ogie's son Nate. I think "The Clash" is produced by GMA and not by her or co-produced with her. Great singers, actors, actresses, actor-athletes, or actor-politicians also do hosting here in the Philippines. It's not a job of "those who can't make it to the top of the industry" thing. Regine is considered as the show's Clash master as she is starting and ending the singing competition and the singing battles in between, and she is the main host of the show. She also has co-hosts called Clash-mates. Hosting here is an option for celebrities to do, and its not just a job for newbies or unrecognized artists. Yeah, she is the queen for us, but she doesn't want to be treated like that. She never sees herself as the greatest of all singers even. She is so thankful and grateful for all her achievements and for being able to still sing in the industry. The contestants of the show even treats her like an older sister and with respect calls her "Ate" or big sister by them and other new artists. She is friendly, fun, simple, humble, and is like just any other human being that is just blessed with great talent, life, and career. Many celebrities in the Philippines are not like celebrities in other countries who demands proper, fine, and high treatment. Other Filipino celebrities even say that they shouldn't be seen as totally different, because all of them are just like any other Filipino citizens who farts, snores, and do human stuffs. It's just that their jobs are in media, entertainment, and doing shows that makes them popular, famous, and in need to take good care of their appearance and reputation. They just deserve respect like how we should respect people in authority or our parents or any other human being that is deserving of respect. Most of the Filipino artists are friendly, approachable, pleasing, humble, and demands human respect or in the same level of respect for professionals or people in media, and not so much of fine, high, or proper treatment like that of a real-life monarch.

Regine said one time that she's not comfortable being a judge. She's too humble to admit it. She was asked why she's always a host and not seated as a judge. She said she's hesitant that people might misunderstand her making faces while someone is performing without her knowing it. Also, she referred herself as "relative pitch" as most singers are who can learn a song by listening to it. Although, she named dropped Lea Salonga as "pitch perfect" as someone who can carry the right tune even without listening to the actual song. These are the reasons why she has reservations being seated as a judge.

Everybody sees Regine as a queen or diva, but Regine seems she doesn't want her fans or people to treat her like that. She is so humble, fun, and simple. She also loves comedy and comedians. She supports and is idolized by many gay comedians who sometimes tries to do impersonations of her as an act. She also is supportive to budding singers and she admires singer-songwriters like her husband for having great talent in both singing and in writing or composing songs. She is also hosting a show called "Sarap Diva" (Taste Diva) where she does hosting, interviews to other celebrities in GMA, singing, and cooking as well as having a laugh to her guest comedians.

She doesn't want to be a judge because she gives weird faces when she hears a wrong note. She is a hard critic but she does not want to be harsh --- that is according to her. She is a multi-media star. She does movies and TV shows. This is not the first singing competition she hosted. The first one was way back in 2003, where Sarah Geronimo packed the champion belt, also another in 2003 where Rachelle Ann Go (who is doing really good in Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, and currently, Hamilton broadway) won, and also in 2004 where Jona won the title, and the list goes on an on.

i like you comments, just wondering thought what do you mean by digitally corrected voice, I guess with other singing contest abroad might be using this kind of voice effect. Just to be fair with the contestants and the show "The Clash" I don't think they are using it, I've heard the comments of judges they still find some flaws every single singers here. I may not be the best to answer on this but I was still able to hear some flat notes, lacking to sustain the note sometimes, the right spot to breath and other technical issues from the contestant. I bit you dudes about 4-5 contestant here seems to hitting right low and high notes, to name the few were Garreth, Josh and Mirriam, Thanks for the nice comments.

Garrett must be that good for you to say that there was some autotune in his performance, no dear what you've heard was his pure voice. singing competitions here in the philippines do not use such stuffs. On the other hand Regine Velasquez being the host of the show was her personal choice because she's not into judging coz people might misunderstand her when she becomes one, As a matter of fact she already hosted a lots of singing competitions here in the philippines. FYI aside from being a singer RGV is also an actress and host. she has done a lots of drama series and movies.

Possible Regine declined to be a judge..cause it is a pain delivering bad news if singers were not able to perform well...because Regine is very down to earth singer so that is very difficult to criticize the new singers...and Regine is always praising new singers to boost their confidence to be on their best rather than showing what part they can improve more..

The Clash is actually produced by GMA network and Regine is just the host. I think it was inspired by USA's The Four. Garrett Bolden has African-American blood. He auditioned in Asia's Got Talent before in order to get exposure and have a chance to meet his dad who left him when he was young.

I was also a product of national competition and Garrett and I auditioned together back in 2009-2013 so we don't use Auto tune or some sort and here in the Philippines we don't use such. And to be a judge, it doesn't mean that you are a perfect singer... but it is a matter of someone's capability to determine anyone's talent... like you both, mgn, you were able to express your thoughts if someone is good or not... thank you for giving reactions to such videos like this.....appreciated it...

During some interviews, Regine was once asked why she's not into seat as a judge, she answered that she's not good at judging and she don't want to judge how other singers tend to sing their songs..

His voice is not auto tune.. Lol regine velasquez the host even said that it sound like recorded becoz its almost perfect.. I know him personally and his voice is like that in person lol

Actually, Regine hosted a lot of singing contests in the Philippines. The shows she hosted produced a lot of know singers now like Sarah and Jona.
