Hello Jenny. What an amazing build !!. A far cry from my old Mamod Traction engine my Dad got me for Christmas back in the Bronze Age. Absolutely stunning Garratt.

Great first steam up, We ran my dads 4 inch Burrell, found it hard to keep the fire going, put to much welsh steam coal on too early. Also bolt missing from the cylinder block, so next time we should be good. the more to steam it the better you get. Took us a time to sort he's other one out, a 3 inch Allchin. Its great fun and there all different i think.

Ahh, the same problem I have had... Run an engine on compressed air at low psi. But things are very different at working steam pressure! You guys did well with a coal fire sorting out the problems, not just a case of "Turn off the gas"! Well done and thank you, this video will give a lot of 'heart' to 'First time' steamers.

Extremely beautiful traction engine Jenny, you must be very proud. By the way I have always wondered what is that black oval shape on the side of the boiler on traction engines? (0:11)

It's the boiler washout hole to clean the boiler.

As I thought!! My signal had cut out for a couple of moments and I was able to sort it by going outside the back door.
