Hello Jenny, Zoe & Craig. Love the new Lowmac wagon, you wait for one to come along, and then.... The Dapol Lowmac was good in its day, but lost all credibility the moment Hornby began sticking oversized Coke bottles on it.

If you buy a Rolls Royce, you pay Rolls-Royce prices!! This is a PREMIUM model. The way to make it even more premium is to fit the HM7000 sound chip!!

Those blinking plugs drive me round the bend!! They come on both Hornby and Bachmann steam locomotives, and are the only real curse of model steam locomotives.

To me, if it has DCC Sound fitted rather than having to buy a MH2000 sound chip, it’s just a better version of a great locomotive.

At last Hornby has actually brought this locomotive out!! It’s lovely to see Black Prince to run on one’s layout. Not for me, but it’s a gorgeous locomotive!!

Afraid I have to disagree with you regarding equality between men and women. Women are disadvantaged in many parts of society. They still earn less than men for the same role, in many areas. Yes, we’ve made progress, but we still have some way to go.

No mention of the Great Northern Railway 8 Ton vans also announced by Rapido? Or is a separate video coming for this humble family of vans that worked with everything from the J70s at Wisbech right the way up to A3s and A4s on the ECML?

The Ivor stock wagons look like they would be good for the the LMR. One thing any long wheel base 2 axle wagon need is slightly wider wheels beyond the flanges if using tight curves, the axles stay parallel to the axis of the wagon and curve and thus move to less then track gauge.

Ivor the Engine and Jones the Steam bring back many memories from my childhood, I would like to buy one, but already I can foresee a high price. As for the coaches, there is only one word "Wonderful" GNR and NER are my choices. Thank you Jenny And Zoe for a great video. Martin. (Thailand) 🚪🐒

Great review...😊 The rectangular boxes on the tender chassis is a water filter, these were connected to the loco via the injectors, any debris in the sheds water supply, would be caught in these two filter elements, they were changed or cleaned in service intervals... The manifold on top of the firebox has to be moulded as flat as possible as to release it from the tooling mould, that would be a join, not a brake...it will be on the other side too...

Hi Jenny, very good review, you have a Bachmann class 08 in RTC livery called Ivor, maybe Bachmann will produce an RTC livery class 08 in their new tooling. The Rapido lowmac wagon is superb, I have one in departmental yellow livery, I’m sure those dove tail tension lock couplings can be upgraded to nem pockets eventually, thanks for sharing.

Nice review. I'd quite like to see either a Class 27 or a Class 24 make it into the Hornby Railroad range. However I do think the RRP off the Class 110 is still a bit much, in my view. However, for the price you do get a fairly robust model which is ideal for young people coming into the hobby. I've been a little bit disappointed in recent years with some of Hornby's premium and highly-detailed models. Whenever I've bought a few, they either don't run well, bits break off or they don't like the points on my layout. Older models are more robust and can go around my layout with no trouble. I can't for the life of me understand why I didn't buy Railroad range stuff but customise it myself.

@@AgenoriaModelTrains it would be more likely the class 25. They also potentially have a class 29

Hornby as you wellknow miss Kirk is no longer interested in providing good reliable models at a reasonable price Instead they re-hash the same old models over and over again and continually jack up their prices by 20-----30----40% A quick respray with new livery does not equal a new retooling I believe that Hornby could in the future withdraw from trains all together

I must be in the minority in not liking the two tone green livery. I can't say why, but the light green lower never did it for me. I looks sickly to me. That said I do love the Deltic though, the engine is fantastic 👌

What a great review of this iconic locomotive! Although prices are going up, as you say, they're still lower than that of Continental models. As an aside, when we were in the UK on holiday I picked up a preowned, earlier version of the Hornby 9F which had never run @ £120. It turned out to be a good model too.😊

Have "bookmarked" this as I'm in the process of putting together a model railway layout that is 12 feet x 4 feet. But the idea of fitting point motors terrify me. 😅 If at some point (no pun intended) I would like to get into it then I can come back to this video and learn a bit more.

Great review Jenny, thank you. I bought the latest 9F in 92167 guise when they were first released. I fitted it with a Zimo and sound. It's a lovely loco and would have been even better with steam.

Very tempting. My Great Great Grandfather was a Midland Railway Driver based at Bedford. Although I’ve never known that side of the family (my Grandmother died young) I’ve been wanting to recognise him in my fleet. By 1911, aged 62, he’d already retired so he would never have driven these. I’ve favoured buying a Midland Compound but, at Bedford, I doubt he’d have driven one of those either. Choices, choices…

Thankyou Jenny for an excellent review. This loco is something very special; it has a presence of its own like the Cock o the North. The new tooling and detail from within it make the price high; something which is becoming a norm but looking at this the model does give what you are paying for. All best Marc from Leighton Buzzard
