I think it's important to note that the Grand Canyon operates on a 1-10 scale. Their class 5 is the same as a Salmon River class 2.5. I totally disagree with their scale because there are too many variables. When you have a 1-10 scale what is the true difference between a 7 and an 8? I think the Grand Canyon should align with every other rive and go to a 1-5 scale.
@GarrettMorrow5 жыл бұрын

T Cali, sorry for the delayed response here. Thank you for the kind comment. We had highs in the 80's and lows in low 70's. The water is cold, but warms 1 degree every 20 miles you travel down river. The water temperature is also dependent on Lake Powell's water level and time of year. Today at the put in it is 65 degrees F. Make sure to check out my other river trip videos! Thanks again.

So, no one has asked this question. Here goes. Did you intentionally not set your oar stops (those black donut things at the top of the rope rap) or did you just not realize you were supposed to. My guess, REO probably had OAR RIGHTS on there for their last group and as such the (oar stops) donuts were moved out of the way. Rowing with open oar locks is pretty advanced, but not setting up your oar stops is not really ideal. You were definitely getting tossed around in the boat a lot and weren't really able to use the oars as braces to lock yourself in. Anyway, loved the video and as a novice-intermediate rower myself, was definitely impressed. Were you really only rafting 3 times before the canyon?
