GOING TO THE HIGHEST POINT IN OKLAHOMA - Black Mesa, OK

In this video, we break our 8 month hiatus with a trip to Black Mesa, Oklahoma's highest point. This is the 26th US state highpoint we have been to. This video was recorded on December 8, 2018.

If your into bicycling you could drive up mt.scott in Oklahoma with some one and ride the bike down mount Scott's road which is about 3 miles down the mountain and someone in the car could meet you at the bottom

@@grtshw UPDATE Holy crap, that hike was so much fun! The video really doesn't do it justice to how quiet and isolated that area is when you get just a mile away from the parking lot. Down in the valley, once you get away from the development there, all of those towering mesas just enclose and encircle on all sides. It's really no wonder this place was so popular with Comanche natives and outlaws. Unless you know the way in, it would have been tough to find in the days of horseback and wagon trains. Felt just like a John Wayne movie! Congratulations on the Kilimanjaro summit, man! Anxiously awaiting that video. If you and the old man have time, I'm eyeballing a thru-hike of the Ouachita Trail which should take about 12 days to finish. Keep me posted! I could use a pair of capable hikemates for that long-distance trip.

@@IanNafziger Thanks so much for the update. So glad you enjoyed it! As far as the invite, that's very much appreciated, but truth be told, we are both incredibly busy save for summers. That's why the Kilimanjaro video has taken this long to finally get out. We may be interested in something like that, but at the minute most of our weekends away are saved for summer highpoint grinding. Thanks again!!

where did you get 5,705 feet from?

That was a mistake based on the altitude of the highest part of Black Mesa, which is across state lines and not in Oklahoma. When I was making and editing this video years ago I just looked up Black Mesa elevation and that was what came up - there aren’t many states where the state highpoint isn’t simultaneously the highest point of the mountain itself

Yeah absolutely! I try to do that with all of them, but this video was particularly long so it was a bit difficult to fit in. I will keep that in mind though!
