A quick (ha most of a day) VoiceOver for this video from last year - hopefully explains a bit more about the process as this is such an iconic wand. Sorry about no new videos I'm so busy and need to get my lathe fixed too!

I suggest you to use wood chisels and a hand plane, and for improve the knife you can get some sculpting knifes, but the last one is optional. I swear you can made some beautiful wands without a woodturning machine ! Good luck and enjoy ! (Ps: sorry for my bad english, I’m french)

Wow. Stunning work. I'm working with black walnut right now. Trying to make a mini bow, for a gift. Got down to the size I wanted - worm hole. Cut it off. Steamed it - broke it. Grrrrr. But, I didn't soak it first, so thank you for showing me how to do it properly. Bellatrix is my all time favorite, and her wand too. Excellent work on this. Subbed

Literally one of my favorite characters! I’ve got her Funko Pop, Lego minifigure, but I still need the wand. I love her line in the film “Go on Dracooo NOOOOOWWW!” Helena Bonham Carter is an amazing actress and she IS Bellatrix. I always felt she drew a lot on her Tim Burton roles, and that is perhaps the reason she was cast. I love her wand even more. You did a fantastic job! “You filthy half blood!” And as usual I love your gags. They’re brilliant and crack me up. 😂

I bought one of the first Draco Malfoy replicas you had made in 2022. It was unfortunately lost to a flood (water made it warp and leached the stain), but it was and will always will be the BEST wooden replicas I have ever held. Your work, skill and dedication is unmatched. Your sense of humor is to die for. And now your voiceover videos are even better! Always get a good laugh out of them and always find myself nearly hypnotized by your careful woodwork. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing you complete that big wheel o' wands!

I know I’m way late here but you may have an easier time bending relatively narrow pieces like this with a bending iron. You know how the sides of guitars are all curvy? We use bending irons to bend the wood into those shapes, and a mold similar to the one you used actually to hold them in place while they dry. In a pinch you can just use the side of a pot on the stove or something, that’s what I use to bend wood binding strips for repairs most of the time. But I do have a little benchtop bending iron, think I paid like $120 for it. I think you’d have been able to get that bend in the wand quite a bit quicker with a bending iron. It can burn species that have a lot of sap or oil in them though, fair warning. But most often it’s not a problem sanding out the scorch marks. Really cool stuff you’re doing here man! I want a lathe so bad now.

I play in a Harry Potter's Universe RPG group, and my Character, is an Auror in the Magic affiliation with the RCMP Here in Canada, and my Character's wand is nothing Organic at all. However, is is an ancient (literally Millions of years old) Blue Corundum, Sapphire. A top-grade Blue Sapphire Wand, and in order to get an idea of its design, if you have seen, or possibly own, Austrian Lead Crystal Stemware, like Champagne Flutes. That have the very finest of Cut and patterned Stemware you can buy from the oldest of Austrian Artisans, then you'll get an idea of what my Character's Wand looks like. It is the deepest of Blue and glows with a brilliant blue hued light when she flows her power through the wand. It is Unbreakable and is a Family Heirloom passed down from Mother to Daughter in the Scottish Family of Chalmers. It is nothing like any wand made of wood or any other organic origins. it is extremely old, created approximately 3000 BC, or at least so the family records indicate. The age is only approximate as it was made by an ancient form of magic practically lost to the mists of antiquity, writings are sparse to say the least since handwritten records from that era are rare in the extreme. I have much further detail, but it is far too long to write here. Suffice it to say that it is not made of wood or metal, has no core, and operates on a different principle than traditional wands. It has a male counterpart as well, made from Red Corundum, Ruby, and is in the hands of My Character's Father. Which allows the owner of each wand to know the state of the other wand holder. Any person to take up either wand that is not of Chalmer Heritage will be instantly repelled from holding the wand and any person persisting in holding it would, according to Family Lore be cursed, and lose their mind for ever after. But they would have to very Persistent, because even the most gifted and powerful witches and Wizards are effects by the Wands nature to be in the hands of the Chalmers Family. The wand practically decides itself, who will be the next inheritor of it, and cannot be dissuaded in any way.
