Manuel Francisco dos Santos (28 October 1933 - 20 January 1983), known by the nickname Garrincha , was a Brazilian footballer who played right winger and forward. He is regarded by many in the sport to be the best dribbler in football history.
The word garrincha itself means wren. Garrincha was also known as Mané (short for Manuel) by his friends. The combined Mané Garrincha is common among fans in Brazil. Due to his immense popularity in Brazil, he was also called Alegria do Povo (People's Joy) and Anjo de Pernas Tortas (Bent-Legged Angel).
In 1958 and 1962, Garrincha won the FIFA World Cup with the Brazil national team. At the 1962 tournament, with Pelé out injured, he led the team to victory, received the World Cup Golden Ball for player of the tournament, the Golden Boot as leading goalscorer, and was named in the World Cup All-Star Team. In 1994 he was named in the FIFA World Cup All-Time Team. Brazil never lost a match while fielding both Garrincha and Pelé.

O Santos só tem tanto título por que o Pelé era um exemplo de atleta e gostava de ganhar título, porque na época os dois times ficavam a maior parte do tempo fazendo excursão fora do país. Por isso que tem históricos de confronto com o Botafogo encaçapando o Real Madrid. Daí colocavam o time reserva pra jogar os campeonatos daqui.

Nasci em 1984. Garrincha faleceu em 1985. Não tive a chance de vê-lo jogar pessoalmente, mas acompanhei grande parte dos seus jogos pela Internet. Sem dúvida ele foi mais habilidoso que o Pelé.

Pele is not a big idol for the country and is not loved as much as garrincha was but he was a better footballer, maybe botafogo fans started this myth but ask some old age fans in Brazil who saw both of them play and they will say Pele was better, mane is more loved because he was the Joy of the people hahaha that’s his nickname. This man is really a criminally underrated hero who despite having a deformity in the very part of the body required to play his sport , he still led his country to world cup glories . En cuanto al regate; siempre el mismo y monótono regate abierto.
