Wow! Originally saw this show when was a young lad. It was one of my favorite TV shows in the 60's. The music sounds so similar to Combat's one. Even the gunshot special effect sounds, etc. Kudos and thank you for uploading this n other episodes.

Fans of Combat and GG unite already! I guess the TV producers of 60's never foresaw the possibility of the internet and KZbin, where fans the world over would have had the freedom to ever compare technicalities and analyse programs, scenes frame by frame etc. Both programs were of similar grade in great quality. Combat! was the better more realistic program with VM and having more in longevity. Funny about that, both shows having the same producer (Selmur), writers and in this episode, the merging of scenes from COMBAT! S05E01 - THE GUN 1966 and of course the inclusion of Pte. William J Kirby (Jack Hogan) as a court martialed soldier in transit was quite clever. Also, incorporating similarities from the movies - "The Dirty Dozen" was entertaining. Anyway who really cares! It was just simply entertaining TV for its time and better than most programs these days. Even Twelve O'Clock High was rated highly and provided great TV with interesting WW2 stories and plots for us all to enjoy. Once again who cares about the technical accuracy of equipment, stories and TV. For the time they were produced, they were pretty limited with sets, available film archive, material and special effects, etc. Also, thank God for the way WW2 turned out, with the Allies winning. Many of us, if not all of us would be here today to enjoy these shows if it weren't for our relatives and forefathers. ENJOY them for what they worth. Chill people... CHILL! They were great shows and it was a pity there weren't more of them. Thank you to Selmur, the writers and the actors and to those who served and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice...What a Legacy!

I think this is a great series. I somehow missed this when I was a kid (l was only 4 at the time), and being a one season it was not stripped into syndication. I was a big fan of the POTA series & was the kind of kid who sought out info on the stars. That was when first heard of GG cause Ron Harper was in it. The only description I ever got was "made for TV Dirty Dozen." Now 50+ years later (thanks to KZbin) I am finally sering it. I think it is really good. I like that USA is the good guy. I like the Mission: Impossible style stories. It takes me back to the way TV used to be made, and I like that.

Regarding music. During the credits....parts of the the theme reminded me of the "^6 million dollar man". During the episodes....they use a lot of the same music that was used on "Combat!" I also noticed that while the credit are running at the start of they show, they show snippets of scenes from the show like they did for "Mission Impossible".
@owenmadden75773 жыл бұрын
I caught that 6 Million Dollar Man section early on.They lifted the most recognizable part of the theme right out of GG. Coincidence?
@bigdeal393 жыл бұрын
The reason why the music is similar to Combat and G.G. Is because Leonard Rosenman did the music to both programs...he did a lot of the Themes to programs back then...the guy was a genius at it...he sometimes didn't even watch them....they would send him a script at times and he would read it and put the music to the scenes of the script !! WOW ! We TRULY TRULY had Great programs back then... compared to the garbage that's on today !!!

Quite a few of the fight scenes were from the episode of Combat entitled "The Gun." Still is enjoyable though. Even some of the music from Combat is used here.

Wade -- Richard Bakalyn(n) -- was in 2 episodes of Combat: as Sgt Piper in Gitty and Sgt Wolfson in The Prisoner; something really nice about his voice + a Saunders line: "He's just doing his job..."

some of the escape footage is reused from combat. there is an episode in which the Germans captured Saunders and he managed to escape. the episode was also in color.

@dindinprivate34777 жыл бұрын
So many scenes in this episode were lifted directly from 3 different episodes of Combat! that it is surely plagiarism! The funny part is that even "Kirby" acted in this episode too.
@Timinator626 жыл бұрын
That's because the Producers, Directors, Writers and others were the same for Combat!.
@dindinprivate34776 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Garrisoln's Gorillas then was meant to be a farce? It certainly nwasn't of the quality of Combat! as a war series.
@alicetremain73666 жыл бұрын
Agree, not Combat, yet the same production company (Selmur) and back lot. Is it the height of cynicism to present war conducted successfully by criminals? That might be the farcial aspect.
@dindinprivate34776 жыл бұрын
The farcical aspects imo are the ridiculous assignments and how they are carried out. No realism whatsoever, pure teenage type fantasy.
@alicetremain73665 жыл бұрын
@@dindinprivate3477 Don't disagree, was just thinking of the overall concept. The notion of "how 'we' won the war" (GG obviously borrowing from Dirty Dozen) had deteriorated by 67. As a kid, I liked both Combat! and Garrison's Gorillas for offering a bit of German and French dialog and interesting men. Combat! was by far the best, of course, but it was all "TV."
