The palatal embrasure is larger than the buccal, so I would have placed the wedge from the palate. This would have created a more sealed gingival margin in the palatal areas.

yeah great point! I'll almost always do the buccal side as to help prevent the band from falling and being aspirated, swallowed, etc. For that spacing that you noticed, typically I'll place a little teflon in that area,. by the ring to help close the space and get better adaptations.

Another tip is to curve the band so it's more like a C shape so that way the ends go into the sulcus better other wise the ends just bounces off the gingival.
