I really like that you actually play out the bad moves. As a casual amateur, it can sometimes be hard to see why a particular move is the best possible one in these grandmaster-level games.
@fhs41374 жыл бұрын
I agree. There are a lot of resources that are more like: "This move is a good move because you're doing x," without explaining why other moves are less advantageous. But I find it both interesting and useful, to learn to analyze and recognize both good and bad moves. You'll not only learn to recognize when *you're* about to make a bad move, you'll also be better at recognizing when your opponent is blundering. Of course you can extrapolate from knowing that x is more advantageous, so y must be less advantageous, and experiment on your own. But it's cool to have a teacher-type taking you through it and explaining.

I love king walks, but I can't help wondering: are there any famous games where the side "getting walked" actually ends up winning? It just seems to me like the reason the king walks up the board is always to avoid a faster mate, but then they just end up getting mated anyway.

Just a question (I'm a newbie to chess) why didn't white push the attack on the bishop with queen at 8:33 (queen to e7), it would put king in check and simultaneously stop the rook from being taken by creating a disadvantage to the other rook and take the bishop out of the equation, king has to move - Nevermind! I didn't notice the queen, the trade would likely be worse; (W)queen take (B)Bishop (B)queen take (W)queen (W)rook take (B)queen, (B)rook take (W)rook. Leaves 1 rook either side and black with board advantage with the knight and black rook.
