Just a brilliant comedian even more amazing person. It's too bad he's gone, but will always have the gifts he shared with us.

I didn't know I could love Garry more than I already did. But Judd Apatow's documentary series made that so.

He was a sweetheart. You can just tell. But confirming that it's not my wishful thinking, his friends and colleagues have told some great, confirming stories. One of the many signs that you're getting older is that so many of your favorite people are gone. The people who were part of -- and helped create -- the culture that you experienced in your formative years. Musicians, actors, comedians, news anchors, sports figures. Not to mention your own (presumably) non-celebrity family and friends -- all seem to be passing away in droves, or are suffering a terrible illness. I was going to list out a few names, but we all pretty much know who. I don't have anything encouraging to say about this. It just sucks. God bless Garry Shandling.

Couldn't any of the 900 friends that attended his memorial have told him he's not looking well and needed to get checked immediately! He aged terribly, could hardly breathe and had a big lump in his neck. He needed someone to love him and push him to take better care of himself. It's a pity. What a loss of a comedic genius. I believe his death could've been postponed.

Back when all of the other comics boycotted the Comedy Store, Shandling. crossed the picketline and continued to support Mitzi. 900 or 9000 - Shandling did his own thing. And like us all, he never thought that he was at deaths door.

They did tell him Ilene. In fact he had started to get better after it was discovered he had hypoparathyroidism and pancreatitis. What he died of was an embolism. Had he gone to the ER the day before perhaps he’d still be here

Ironically, if he was married, his wife would’ve hounded him to get checked out. RIP.
@Javmon94 жыл бұрын
He was getting checked. Is you watch comedians in cars getting coffee, he mentions it just a few months before he died.
@briaf33702 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they do say that’s one huge benefit of marriage

A very, very interesting man of many dimensions. Very funny, Very instropective. Driven yet Zen. He's up there with George Carlin in my book.

And definitely up there with Ramis, as far as being prolific, creative forces in inspired, high-quality, mainstream comedy entertainment in addition to being altruistic, deep-thinking humanitarians.

Surely the intro was inspired by the Woody Allen joke about buying a marathon medal. . Love Shandling, he was really a lovely human being, he sent out a decency and wrote excellently, with surprising concision on human foibles, without judgement. A man who did not cede to cynicism, although he made a well-earned living from seeing it and holding it up. Don't be cynical. Don't be bitter, people, Garry's got you, there should be no frree fall into your perceived nothing. The fact that the 'mainstream' embraced this wonderful man is fantastic and so rare.

The Man. The rabbi joke sounded like a distilled version of Woody Allen's Moose Joke :)

Larry patented that look. The searching look. This is very funny fresh stuff. Of course.
@___David___Savian3 жыл бұрын
No. Jack Benny perfected the searching look. Then Bob Hope copied him. Then Johnny Carson copied them. Then Garry Shandling copied them.

I just got back into Garry. Its so sad about hie death. He had trouble breathing and his leg hurt the day before he died. He called his doctor and said he would go to the hospital the next day. He should have gone to the ER immedialy. He had a blood clot, they could have given him medicine.

You can hear he has a breathing problem. He's still funny though.

He was already planning to visit a facility the next day because he had not been feeling well

The final autopsy ruled it a pulmonary embolism. A blood clot traveled through to his lung. He had called his doctor the day before but should have gone to ER. He was alone and called ambulance himself
@idrosenberg6 жыл бұрын
Apparently had a parathyroid problem which might have caused the lump in his neck. I believe the heart attack was the final nail in the coffin (so to speak!)
@tonyscott49396 жыл бұрын
You're right. His breathing is labored. But good luck trying to get Shandling to do something he needs to do.

Genius. I don't know sports but 'this is the most violent Passover ever... certainly more exciting than the -- -- fight.' Talented man. i wish he was still around, they told me I have lung cancer yesterday and the ct scan machine readout was 666. Gotta get to confession. True.

Why were they raising money for cancer. Cancer already has a few houses in Malibu.
