“You’re not stalking me, are you?” That was the funniest line.

This might be my favorite shandling appearence in anything. Watching the his poker face slowly fade away to where he eventually just says it.

Linehan was always looking for validation by impressing the guests with all the background work he's done on their lives. Garry was an incredibly insightful person when it came to human dynamics - it's what makes Larry Sanders so perfectly well observed - and you can see see that he has Linehan clocked for the (harmless) weirdo that he is. Shandling uses his discomfort to make the situation funny.

That's one way to interpret it. Another is that Garry admits to using comedy to cloak his insecurities and when Brian gets him to drop his guard and be sincere it frightens Garry back into joking and when that doesn't stop Brian from keeping it real Garry begins stumbling in his speech and then lashing out. He may be projecting his insincerity onto Brian who is well known for being well intended and well informed.

A superb use of 15 minutes, watching this. Garry turns promo into psychoanalysis, as usual. 😂

Beatty's on the last epi of Larry Sanders & he's bitterly refusing to be involved w/his request & drives away. He toured w/D.Miller & it was a perfect fit. He just said he was uncomfortable about this guy. Maybe it's his expressions plus Martin Short used a character name: Brock Linihan or something else like that guy's name.

6:30... watch the body language... Garry cant even look at this guy or he is going to start laughing.. You can see his mind working for all the jokes he wants to tell on this guy.

Looks like Shandling is extremely tired. Linehan had to do all his research before there was internet. That comment about getting naked was a little weird though.

Did you see her interview in the Apatow documentary? Absolutely insufferable. As tragic as Shandling's death was, at least he lived the last 20 years of his life in peace, away from her.
