Shandling was really pouring it ON that young guy, in a good way. Not ignoring him, including him in so many discussions and making examples of him, etc. that I'm sure that young guy must have been FLYING after this gig. "Garry Shandling spoke TO me and ABOUT me so much!" For a legend like Shandling to give him so much time - that must have been very heady for a young comic like him.
@spacie898 жыл бұрын
Nope, like the young comic joked... "who are you people?"

as an amateur stand up comic, that is amazing to me. I've been able to talk to some veteran comics and it's a good idea to pick their brain. Bo is 10 years as a comedian and he's not even gonna being doing stand up anymore(he had terrible stress from performing) but his specials are all something you should watch all his specials, his last two are on netflix. Words Words Words(2010), What(2013) and Make Happy(2016). In this episode Bo performed from Words Words Words " Art is Dead" which is about Bo's guilt as a successful performer, from What his song We Think We Know You tackles how other people view him and in Make Happy the song " Can't Handle This" is epic about his choice not to perform anymore. Now he's gonna be writing, he's talked about wanting to do musicals.

I remember meeting Garry Shandling many years ago at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. I was just a kid and he just emanated that star quality. I asked him for his autograph and he was so kind and willing to do something nice for a fan. That’s what I remember about him.

Thanx for posting this. RIP Gary. This video was a fine demonstration of the WIT of the man. He came up with a zinger for everything that came at him. And that ego stuff at the end. He nailed it. We should listen closely. When Gary refers to the struggle he had doing comedy (which can be a very ego based endeavor) while perusing his Buddhist path... I think he was successful in that struggle. Gary was always telling the truth about himself when he spoke. He was making fun of himself... of his fears and neurosis's ... he seemed to know that all his "baggage" was not who he was, so he could laugh at it... and let you laugh at it to. A very evolved human being, was he.

George Carlin taking the time to look at Garry's first hand jokes was incredible considering how much he wrote himself and how much he worked. I'm sure his constructive comments on Garry's work made Garry move forward as a comic in the most POSITIVE LIGHT!

Off the cuff, the bit about birds falling out of the sky simply because they're "not that great at flying" is possibly the funniest thing ever. And I've seen it all honestly. Literally I've seen it all. I just love it. Along with Lewis Black's classic Red, White, and Screwed joke about North Korea being not just black and white in pictures but also just in general because of how evil they are, this is right up there.

Shandling was SO god damned clever and as a result equally funny. I would have loved to hear his comedy on the current events of 2017. I really think he could have made fun of every side with objective and intellectual humor. This guy cracked me up. I tried, three times, to watch Marc Maron's new stand up special on Netflix and I couldn't do it. I swear there is a standard price for Trump jokes, regardless of originality. If I could make a few thousand bucks for reciting what I hear on IG comments as my own comedic rants I would do it in a heart beat. Glad to know that fucks like Maron are in the same financial boat as me.
