Heartbreaking to know they are all gone! They will always be my number 1 soundtrack of my life. Was just a kid when I first heard them back in the 60's! May they all rest in Peace and Love Forever knowing how much they touched the world with their music when they were here and will be loved now for eternity! Thanks boys! Proud of you Canadian boys and neighbour's who were in the band! Thanks ❤️ 💃🏻🎸🪗🎷🥁🪘🪇🪈🎹🎺🎻🪕🇨🇦

Most of our younger generations probably don't remember "The Band", but I do (I'm 84). Back when always had my radio on, I loved this band and the songs they sung . . . I'm sad to here that the last of the original members has passed on, but their music should never die! Someone should do a show on these Hit Makeres. They had so many hits on the charts, it would be hard to count them all. I you want to hear their amazing songs, look them up!

A number of years ago I was sound engineer for an outdoor concert. 5,000+ people waited patiently for nearly two hours past his start time and well past noise bylaw at night. The show was incredible and yes he did use a B3 Hammond with Lesley, an acoustic piano and Yamaha stage piano. A moment in my life was the song Chest Fever.

I got to see The Band play live once, at the Greek Theater in LA. It was part of the tour that led to The Last Waltz. I was 17 and working crowd control, and was mostly a prog guy in those days. The Band blew me away. Great musicians and with Levon, they had one of the great rock vocalists. Garth was always behind his keys, bringing that extra something that helped make The Band so unique. I saw an article that called "THE BAND" an "American Band." "THE BAND" was ACTUALLY a "Canadian Band." The Band was a Canadian-American rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario, in 1957. It consisted of Canadians Rick Danko (bass, guitar, vocals, fiddle), Garth Hudson (organ, keyboards, accordion, saxophone), Richard Manuel (piano, drums, vocals), Robbie Robertson (guitar, vocals, piano, percussion), and American Levon Helm (drums, vocals, mandolin, guitar, bass).

He was great. In fact, all 5 of them were. He and Robbie were the only ones to last over 80 years. I remember when "The Last Waltz" came out. I didn't know them at the time, so I wasn't interested. I later became a Dylan fan, which led me to buy the Basement Tapes. Their 1/3 of the songs led me to realize how great they were independent of Bob Dylan. That led me to the great "To Kingdom Come" collection and eventually to love all 6 of their core albums of original songs. Maybe I didn't fully appreciate the experience, but I saw them in Albany in 1983, post-Robbie. I also saw them warm up for Crosby, Stills, and Nash at Jones Beach in 1985. Wow, talk about living rock history! And both shows were before Richard Manuel's tragic death. Great memories! RIP
