That laugh we here makes me think they really just wing it and improvise a lot. Or at least they don't always let everyone know exactly what they are gonna say because whoever laughed sounded they really weren't expecting that. They were probably worried that there laugh may have ruined a very good take.

Garth Marenghi isn’t a real person. He’s a fictional persona of Matthew Holness. Everything Holness says as Garth is a joke, but usually very deadpan
