I follow all codes of football and have done for 55 years. In AFL, I've always had a special regard for Kevin Bartlett. I'm still yet to see a player as relentlessly dominant on the ball as Kevin, his fitness level must have been off the chart. But for sheer, unadulterated, born-to-do-it talent, Gary Ablett Snr will never be topped. Gary Junior is a legend of the game, no doubt. But Ablett Snr is the immortal one who stands above all the rest. Current players watching this video would be dumbstruck. Its quite obvious that he didn't get to this level of skill through training, he was just born with it. Awesome.

Ablett was nowhere near the best player of all time... if you judge best by number of premierships won, brownlows etc. But in terms of natural talent, football and athletic ability, and being absolutely unstoppable in so many games, he is BY FAR the best of all time. Pause this at 2:43, can you even believe that jump? He was an absolute freak! Good video quality by the way, much better than 99% of the blurred, unwatchable old football videos on youtube.

I've been lucky enough to have watched through the 70s and onwards. The best player without question is Gary ablett ..junior.

Not a chance.. Jnr played on ball most of the time gathering hundreds of junk possessions over his career. Snr played on the wing and full forward often beating as the above shows 2 at a time..
