I wish someone would do the east side of Gary. The Glen Park area. The state named streets. I grew up on 36th Carolina. I would love to see how it looks now. My old house on Carolina still looked nice last time I saw it in 2016.😊

One thing I notice of most of these videos is they're taken in the cold months. Im sure the places look better with green grass and leaves on the trees.

Nice to see that parts of Gary are still very nice! You are right about the media portraying the city in a dark manner! Probably one of the biggest reasons it is being held back, which is a damn shame! There is a lot of prime real estate going to waste, it is still a Transportation Hub that is not being utilized. This is what happens to communities when jobs try up and corporate greed takes over! I spent the first part of my life which was the mid '70s to early '80s in Sauk Village Illinois which is just a stone's throw from Gary. My family and I used to frequent Gary on a regular basis. Hopefully it will bounce back someday maybe on a smaller scale.I believe poor management and marketing is also to blame for its rapid decline. Never judge a book by its cover there are good people everywhere and from all walks of life!

Nope,,the selling out of the steel mills were the cause.I grew up there,,,We left in 1986. Left 10`s of thousands without jobs,,,they are still laying off to this day.July 21 2022

Although I respect your vision for this video,,,keep in mind that Gary IN is 50.6 squares miles and that 41.2 squares miles are devastated in ruin and poverty. When politcians lost their income kickbacks due to sale of US Steel they gave up reasons for common wealth and has left the population to their own demise. In 1986 ; US Steel sold out to USX and left 10`s of thousand occupants without jobs. I was one of them. I have recently found an article about even more layoffs of union workers since and recently to this day: July 21 2022.

I hear exactly what you're saying that's one of the main reasons why I left the northern region of the Midwest because I'm from Northeast Ohio myself. I just feel this dangerous for media sources to exaggerate certain pieces of information about cities that are of a certain ethnicity.

@@andrewslife1979I'm from Gary. Moved 2003. Glad I did. But thanks for the memories. Gary stuck in a time warp. Some houses and streets never changed.

I grew up in Gary when is was the murder cap I have moved on in life for work. And small towns are more dangerous than Gary back in the 1990s you don't get fucked with at all it was the drug problem don't do drugs don't want to be a gangbanger Garry is a nice place to live
@pham1lyph1rst Жыл бұрын
Gary is only 3/4 a city, being that there is no neighbors to the North. Makes it that much harder to thrive economically.
