I am a young fish keeper and hobbyist from Australia and am lucky enough to keep some running river rainbows in my aquarium. I am currently working on breeding them up. The story of the running river rainbows is truly an amazing one and they are such a great fish to keep.

Good work. I recently came across a batch of these for sale. I passed on them. Perhaps I'll go back now knowing how special they are. Wish there were more ppl like this to save other aussie fish... like blue eyes etc

There's a fair group of folks who keep them, just not as vocal or typically out in Europe. There's a great group of blue eye fans and keepers whom are Dutch that are doing some wonderful work with the pseudomugils. Running Rivers are pretty incredible and their story is something that shows how even a tiny amount of money and some dedication can save a native species!

I do sell rainbows I've bred from time to time but it takes quite awhile to raise them to my standards so it's a slow process

That means you care about the fish and the quality. Please keep me in mind when you have some available. I search for local or even state fish fish clubs but there is non in this area. Texas would be the closest and then they are over 6 hr drive from where I live. But great job on your videos.

One option is several of the folks who regularly sell via Aquabid: Mark_N, Roseline19, AllOddBallAquatics and AquasphereDiscus are all very good rainbow keepers and breeders whom sell reasonably often. I've personally received fish from Ricardo of Aquasphere and Mark, very high quality fish and very careful shipping. Also LRB Aquatics when he sells rainbows has amazing stuff.

Here's a true story. Last year I bought the ,most drab and plain female rainbow you ever saw at Petco. Silver green,1 and a half inches. They had a sale and she was the last there..all the ,males were gone of course..so I bought the last and plainest for $1.99 I had a feeling.. Just lately I've seen that plant female develop some very nice colors..some yellow,some lime green dottage...pleasant. I think its a female H.maccullochi. Now when I see them again..get the male.
