Songs were short, fun and had meaning back then! We could actually understand the lyrics these artists were singing. We sang along with them, too, because the 1960's / '70's were a FANTASTIC time to live !!

He was drafted into the army in about 1967 or so and went to Vietnam, and when he came home, music had changed and nobody wanted to hear his kind of music any more, thus ending his career. His Dad could probably have pulled some strings to get him deferred , but his being a man of character, he went into the service and did the right thing. I was a teenager in the Sixties and his music made a huge impression on me that lasts to this day.

I loved this group as a kid in the sixties. This song brings back the GOOD that is missing in music today. It's truly sad that has happened. Thanx Gary Lewis and the Playboys! I was 7 when this on my Dad's old Philco AM radio playing. It was the time in my life, that we didn't have much. We lived behind a firestation in two rooms! Dad listened to radio constantly, as he was the only paid fireman in the small town we lived in. He kept the three pieces of equipment that town had, spotless. We even had people gave us a Dalmatian, my sister named Chief! Thanx Moon doggy for this. Brings tears to my eyes actually, that all that is gone, my parents and my sister, and Chief. This type of music too. Peace to all, and be safe.

I only saw Gary playing drums back in those days and never saw an accordian. This lip synced thing is lame, nothing is real and I'm guessing the lame TV show didn't even have a tambourine or organ to throw in there. Doing jumping jacks would've looked better than holding an accordion

The keyboard player John West played a Cordovox electric accordion. It sounded like an electric piano. Beat the hell out of lugging around a electric keyboard back then.

I am 57 and grew up with that 'feel good music".We had one of those tall radios that stood on the floor, from the 1940's, made of dark wood. The speaker was awesome, and I listened to current pop rock songs on it during the 1960's-1970's.

I dig their wholesome image and innocent smiles. As someone who favors male singers with a bass voice, I’m getting a soft spot for the guy on the accordion. Maybe if I was alive and their ages at the time, he’d be “just my style “

Your songs are the best in that era. It is more than a memory. I still look at the girls. UGH ? To be young again. Why did they invent mirrors ? Wish I had my 57 Chevy. I also had a very fast 62 Dodge Polaris 500. Ran flat out fast. 140 m.p.h. Cops never caught me. The girls did in my cars it was glorious. Duck tail hair. Went to the local Cantine to dance and plug the juke box 3 plays for a quarter. Danced until it closed for the nite. God bless you and the group. Jeff Peters

This song was co-written, arranged and co-produced by Leon Russell. He was not satisfied with the instrumental on the original track so he went in, wiped it out and laid down that killer guitar solo. A lot of people associate him with the piano (well he was great on it) but don't realize he was a really good guitarist too. Even more amazing, is he that had some paralysis, on his right side, due to a birth injury and it took him a year to be able to use a pick properly. The more I have learned about him, the more impressed I am.
