Very impressive, especially how you maintain control throughout. For instance, many tend to just overstate vibrato or bending, but you demonstrate great control over the notes and elements that you use.

Nothing wrong with the solo, but it's a Gary Moore solo. Listening to this just makes your realize for the 1000th time how exceptional Gary Moore was. This solo here just sounds anemic compared to Gary's. Again, I can't play s...t so this is incredible by regular standards, but the way Gary plays is just breathtaking as just about every solo he plays. Kudos to Zach, but you just can't do a Gary Moore solo justice. In all fairness, nobody can. But very impressive you can play that well, and I'm humbled by your talent.

Great stuff. I never much cared for his admittedly very successful second coming as a bluesman. I loved rock stuff and this live solo always defined how good he was. He could shred with the best but with just so much feeling and tone.

Thanks! So besides the 2014 blacktop strat, it was all vst plugins I was using because I didn't have any mics. It was an engl fireball 100 sim, a couple of marshall cabinet sims and some eq and compression. I believe I had all of the delays/reverbs/chorus's on sends so that I could blend the dry sound with the effects.

It’s amazing. Really awesome video. The only question I have is how did you get that delay effect? I read you used plugins but if I want to replicate that sound, do you have a way to check?
@ZachJohnson19964 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate that. So the recording software I use is Studio One and back then I used version 3. I think most daws have some plugins that come with it and I believe I was using either the "Analog Delay" or the "Beat Delay" on this track. If I remember correctly, I had 2 delays going on. Panned to each side and they were probably set at the same rates. I don't think I knew about send tracks yet at that time so I had them just on the track. I hope that helps you out some!
@punk4344 жыл бұрын
I am actually surprised you replied back. lmao Thanks fot the info. :) You know, I've been trying to replicate Gary's 80's delay. But it's been really hard. Such as this version, also the delay used on End of the world, murder in the skies victims of the future. Something that (maybe i am wrong) I do, is on my BOSS GT-100 I put first the Distortion first and then delay so it seems that the delay has some gain in it. Which at this point makes it sound alittle bit like the "So Far Away" intro he does on Stockholm.
@ZachJohnson19964 жыл бұрын
@@punk434 No worries at all and his sound is one of those classic rock guitar sounds that is so useable. Just tons of sustain as well as power and I remember reading in an interview that he was using a Roland SDE-3000 for his delays back in the 80s. I wish I could get one just to satisfy the nerd in me lol.
