Gary Moore was a very special human being when my son was seriously ill back in the early 90s I worked for a uk music shop as a guitar demonstrated. I'd met a friend of Gary's and as I was raising money for the hospital who had saved my babies life,I asked him to ask Gary to donate a t.shirt or plectrum anything to help with the fund raising..... I got a phone call on work on the following Saturday to say Gary was donating a guitar (the white charvel he used on the loner) He paid the postage and autographed it . He wouldn't let me tell anyone he was and is a beautiful guy and brilliant musician ❤️

I'm a 66 year old, hard hearted old man, but this just brings tears to my eyes, what a player, I'm off to visit his grave about two miles from my home tomorrow, the churchyard is so peaceful, the birds sing all day, I'm sure Gary would love it there! R.I.P.Gary!

Hi Snerper! Where is located Gary's grave? I would love to pay my respect to one of the greatest musician the world has ever had.
@snerper8 жыл бұрын
d. lambert Hi mate, sorry for the late reply, it's located in a seaside village about three miles from Brighton, the village is called Rottingdean. Gary is buried in the churchyard of Saint Margaret's church a few minutes walk from the seafront just a bit farther along past the village duck pond. If you walk through the village with your back to the sea, walk past the pond to your left and Saint Margaret's church will be on your right! Gary's grave is about 100 metres or so along the path that runs to the right hand side of the church, he is buried in the old walled in area virtually at the far end of the churchyard from the gate! His headstone stands with it's back against an old wall, not easy to find the first time, but I promise you'll never forget where it is once you do find it! Just sit by the graveside and listen to the birds, it's a nice spot for a nice man!

Being a guitar player for 40 years myself and having listened to Gary my whole life...this performance is just a showcase of how much control of an instrument a human being can have. It is almost painfull to watch. He can play so much more but doesn't choose to do it AND throws all his emotions in it as well. Wow..just wow.

Perfect comment in my opinion. I could not agree with you more..since people will be convinced hearing from a guitar player than a non- guitar player like me.I feel like he is carrying us along with his solo..so beautiful. I was at this gig. He did some shows to publicise his 'Blues For Greeny' tribute album. Gary was incredible! I’ve seen him 10 times since he returned to blues music after Lizzy and his solo 'Rock' stuff. Great player! There’ll never be another. 😪

Hey buddy. I am jealous. You r so lucky. Most of us never had that chance. The reason I said this because Mr. Gary Moore was my hero and I never got the chance to see him played live in the States. The only guy that was little close to Gary Moore was Joe Bonamassa... But Joe is not Gary Moore but also different in style. Anyway, his spirit in this piece will live on beyond earth every time I listen to this genius solo.
@kvp48624 жыл бұрын
SaigonKT - I realise now how lucky I was to see this guitar 'genius'. At one of his gigs in North London, myself and my wife were standing right at the front of the stage. It was a secret gig that he was doing and didn’t want lots of people there because it was being filmed. He ever used his name on the flyers. He went under the name of 'The Midnight Blues Band', which was his backing band at the time. The venue (The Garage) holds about 2000 people, but there was only about 100 of us there. Between songs we were chatting to him like he was in our dining room. He gave me a set of strings and a plectrum. I’ve still got them. Amazing night!

Lately almost every time I listen to him he touches my soul in the deepest possible way and makes me cry of joy. I think with Gary's demise the world lost the greatest guitar player that ever lived. I learnt to play when I was 10 years old: At 14 on was on lead guitar in my own band playing live gigs, mainly in 'care homes' and school youth clubs. In the 70's I was inspired by a band called 'Thin Lizzy'. Much of the guitar work I attributed at the time to Scott Gorman, I now know was laid to record by a young kid called Gary Moore. Phil Lynnot and Moore went back years. Lynnot always realised the potential in Moore and encouraged him, not only to sing his own vocal lines, but to embark on a solo career. It was a troubled relationship fueled by drugs, by Moore stayed clean and the duo parted company many times. If anything, there are 3 great guitarist who will all teach you one thing: 'Leave space' a pause is more powerful than any lightening speed passage. Moore's major influence was Peter Green. My influence Gary Moore, Peter Green and Dave Gilmour. I'm in my 60's now, I have the obligatory 1959 Les Paul (Nik Huber 59 Custom Orca] a Diezel Herbert head [not a Marshall as Gary often preferred] and on retirement, I plan to take a live tribute band on the road, it will showcase the finest work of my hero, including the early 'Rock Years' as well as the more successful era 'of the blues' including the 'Messiah will come again'
