I was at that Hammersmith Odeon gig! This was the last encore. I was 21 years old in 1987 and had only been in London a few months from NZ. Me and my now wife couldn’t believe how good he was. Bob Daisley on Bass, Ian Paice on Drums and Neil Carter on Keyboards/guitar/backing vocals. After this song everyone kind of ambled out…no one was going to yell for another song after that. He had just played his heart and soul out! Absolutely love this guy.

I always thought that this was one of the most incredible guitar tracks that Gary wrote and played... I saw him play this in about 1988 in Birmingham and was just speechless. You can feel the amazing passion in this piece of music... listening makes you feel good to be alive. He left this music for all. RIP Gary.

Just got into Gary Moore and got to say. I love his style. Each note and each melody is well played, well chosen. It’s not all this mindless shredding. He’s telling a story. He can shred but to me picking the right notes and commuting 100% to them is far more impressive than shredding 1000 notes in a second

Gary it truly a legend! I didn't know much about him until my brother one day played one of his songs. Since that day I have always listened to his songs. This person is beyond description even though his dead but his soul is still alive. Amen

Gary Moore is one of the GIANTS of the electric guitar. His feel, intuition for the melody and his unbelievable technique and speed were never bettered and probably will never be. ❤️

Anybody who hasn't heard the 1987 Live from Stockholm version of this song, get it and listen. It is 15 minutes of absolute genius. Gary Moore, The best there ever was, and I've listened to 'em all.

I will have it get that version myself. as it's one of those song's that you can listen to OVER &OVER and OVER AGAIN and not be bored off. It is a pity that his music don't get played that often radio as they dont what the listeners ate missing a master at work.

Any version he did of this - probably the heaviest shit ever.. And I know he was dedicating Sunset to Randy Rhoads back in '83.. Both of these are just backbreaking heartbreakers, but this one as a vehicle for Gary... whew.. How do you not feel this guy? He is like if you are on death's door, no hope, no response - you play him this stuff... He just hits the fucking spot. THE PERFECT PLAYER..Love you brother

Miss Gary's ability to wrench emotions out of a plank of wood that only very few could do. Lots of players have technical ability and speed runs, but when there are tears squeezed out without a word , well you have something special there. He was a truly gifted player.

Some guitarists play the instrument..and some play the instrument and put their emotions through it, their feelings through it, Mr. Gary Moore is one of those latter people, and it is heard through every note, every sequence and every passage. R.I.P. Gary, you always were underappreciated on this earth, but not for the people who can really hear.

Becoming lost in this, I suddenly realized I was crying ... a dead man's last tear. Not of sadness, you understand, or dismay. Rather as aware the depth of time gone by ... a hundred thousand generations of which we are each but a fleeting shadow, the mere blink of an owl's eye, a singular stage of transformation, nothing more. Gary Moore knew that.
