I agree, he's a rocker but the man knows the blues as well....he is the KING of the blues...and a great rocker, there's nothing this man can't do....I've heard him do it all thru the years...all I can say is,,,Awsome!!!!

Who said quality of music is measured by how much theory one has. Especially with blues music, they have a very limited repertoire of scales/modes available for use. Pentatonic and blues is basically it. Blues is 100% about technique, emotion and phrasing, something srv has mastered. Take for instance Clapton, how much theory do you think he knows? No more then your intermediate player but hes going to die a legend because of his technique and phrasing.

@hellbri SRV though played with extreme power, as a Jimmy Hendrix clone was not very technically accomplished. He was just a power player pure and simple and not the best. Gary Moore was far and away technically advanced over SRV. And I like SRV. It was his power that made him stand out not technical ability.
