If he beats the wide man on the wing, I noticed he chooses to use the outside of his right foot (which is difficult to pull off effectively as it's highly technical) or turn inside to use his right foot, which means that the cross or cut back PASS is delayed (not a cut back dribble). Does that make sense? Please let me know if you still think this is a contradiction as I think perhaps you misunderstood what I meant :)

If we’re playing against someone like Liverpool with Salah (who likes to cut in, to be on his left) on the right, we can use Timber there. For some other games it might be better to have Calafiori. I’d also like to see White rested and see Timber at RB. Either way, our defence looks deep. 🙌🏾

Tomiyasu shut down Salah so well because he was a right footer and could prevent Salah from shifting to his left foot, so it makes sense to have that profile to deal with those specific match ups. It’s a shame but at times Ramsdale was impetuous and it cost us. Not that he was to blame for everything, but with Raya now we feel more solid. Also, when goalkeepers are impetuous it affects the confidence of the defenders which stifles the team. So yeah I agree with your comments here.

Shame Merino isn’t discussed positively, negatively or even at all when the pundits speak on Arsenals absences in midfield at this moment in time- Odegaard, Rice being the main focus points. I understand there’s nothing to go off ( no previous games at Arsenal) to say how much he is missed whilst injured and Arsenal merino may be different to Sociedad Merino but IMO he should be mentioned much more regarding absences as I feel he’s bang on to be a main stake in the 11 as the left sided midfielder and could play a big part for the club.

Didn’t really listen to his point, did you? His point was, it’s not an excuse for missing out on the league as it’s extremely unlikely that you’ll go a whole season without missing key players at some point, and that goes for all teams. Man united’s starting XI last year would have found it tough to finish top four, so to have as many injuries as they did, it’s a valid excuse for their position. Arsenal are miles ahead of them and to win the big trophies, you have to be good enough to win when key players are missing, that was his point.

United had to make a lot of signings this summer just to even stand a chance of competing for top four. Arsenal has a set squad and have earned the luxury of only needing to buy when a top player who can improve their squad becomes available. That’s when you know you’re a top side and will consistently challenge.

Beating your title rivals is overhyped. Last season City dropped 5 points against us and still won the league; when Leicester won the league in 2016 we beat them home and away; there are countless examples where eventual PL champions lost to their rivals 121 but still won the league. Media like to hype up these games but the title is actually won/lost more in the consistency in getting max points against the weaker teams. 38 games. You don’t get more points for beating the strongest team away (hence a draw is always a good result in those games)
